The NFL seems him as a tackle and not an end? I'd imagine the NFL wants that kind of size/speed on the end if possible

Losing Battle sucked, but was foregone. He was my second on my list of "most likely to contribute right away" list. Garret Wilson is the gem of the class. He's big time. He should see the field immediately. Cade Stover, I think, will play next season, too. Even at DL. Harry Miller should be a multiple year starter at center, but not next season. Harrison will probably see some time just because. There are a few others that I really like, and hopefully a couple of them pan out.
On the bad side, the OL is really thin. They probably needed 5. They ended up with 1 stud, 1 program player and 1 kid who seems almost certain to flip. They are also really thin at DB. Losing Battle really hurt, there (as will losing Nester at OG).
This type of class is acceptable because of how good and deep 2017 and 2018 were. However, the pressure is really on for 2020. UFM was set to land a stupid good class. We'll see what Day can do with a year. Ultimately, for him, it comes down to winning. He's a no-name. He needs to prove that he can win.
Finally, if, by some miracle, they add Justin Fields to the group of incoming players, well, then that upgrades everything.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Right from the horses mouth ...... Tide football is about winning at all costs. Fuck the person - process those non-performers.
Heh, I know, Aubrey Solomon. Fact of CFB life sucks. It still sucks for the kids but it seems like elite programs have regained the upper hand with all the BS that was being played by 18 year olds who got big heads from being courted by people with money and programs who had to show them love.
Speaking of "CFB life sucks" ....... The NCAA is about to lose the Alton Case:
The NCAA is preparing to lose the Shawne Alston case, which might set off a slow-motion avalanche. The theory behind this particular lawsuit against amateurism is that the conferences have conspired to set the value of a scholarship. If the lawsuit goes the plaintiff's way the NCAA could be prevented from setting a cap on the value of scholarships and then here we go.
Naturally, the manager class is freaking out:If the plaintiffs win, there is concern among the Power Five that a Wild West culture could take hold. The last time conferences oversaw athlete compensation was 1956 before the advent of TV, rights fees, agents and riches from the NFL and NBA.Ah yes. A "Wild West culture." One that is distinct from this one, where OSU keeps Urban Meyer despite his enablement of a domestic abuser, Louisville has no action taken against it despite a freakin' FBI investigation that clearly implicates their head coach despite already being on probation, and payments to recruits under the table are expected at virtually every school in the most successful football conference in the country.
I mean (Brian at mgoblog):Example: If the plaintiffs win, as expected, the SEC could theoretically compensate athletes with cars.
..... and I mean, this will be a destabilizing disaster for CFB. It will sort itself out over time but it's going to be "fun" for a few years until it does. AA, bagmen will be legal. You and your boys are fucked; everybody will be doing it now.Last edited by Jeff Buchanan; December 19, 2018, 05:31 PM.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished.
