There's also increasing smoke that OSU is now a serious threat for Trey Smith. I would have rated Smith even less likely than Marvin Wilson, but the SS Butch is in full fucking Hindenburg mode so OSU is in the game. Really in the game.
That would be stunning. FWIW, while Smith is the 20th overall player according to 247 Composite, he would only be the 3rd highest rated OL in OSU's class if the impossible should happen.
So, right now it's a "heart" vs. "head" decision with, unfortunately, The Nick soon to throw his hat in the ring in a big time way for the latter. I think the big dogs know that the "heart" isn't worth playing 1 year for Butch Jones and then whatever trash they bring in to replace him.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

talent.. what are you hearing about Darnay Holmes? Nebraska "experts" are all over the map on him. Bill Greene says Browning is a Buckeye. That's almost certainly inside info based.
But what really impressed me on this one is that he waded through a ton of stuff last week and earlier this week and basically said OSU and never really wavered.

Greene still thinks West Coast. I've heard OSU really impressed him and, FWIW, his mom was with him (I don't think she's been on some other OVs). I think, at the end of the day, he wants to stay home. If he leaves, I'd guess OSU.
Personally, I still think UCLA. I know some guy on the UNL forums is saying they're out -- but, eh...I just have a hard time seeing a long-time favorite being jettisoned like that. I mean - Trey Smith may drop Tennessee, but that's still his 2nd choice at worst.

I think he's staying close to home. I think his dad's relationship with UCLA's DB coach will win in the end.
I've written him off months ago, but new chatter has started the last two days. I guess he's said something to some west scouts that have people believing UNL is back in it. talent... which guy? Harvey on scout? He's getting his info from the people out west. He hasn't talked to Holmes lately, though he's trying. Frankly, I don't think he has the pulse on recruits. Due to where the staff is recruiting, several of the west coast scouts frequent the UNL board. So we do get some good info and they're saying UNL is in it too. That said, I just don't believe it. UNL might be top 5, but if he's only interested in the top 3, who cares... Also learned that with Marvin Wilson, Alabama isn't allowed to have contact with him or something until January 1. That explains why they haven't been full bore in on him. But that will come. And then you have Orgeron who is one hell of a recruiter of DL. So, hard to see Urbs getting Wilson by two.
