      • I think you're probably right. IMO the spot isn't the real problem. It's that there were 4 third-down PI judgement calls, all of which went OSU's way. You can shrug off either of these, but when it's both, one starts to wonder about the conference's process for picking refs going forward. It's not as if we haven't had complaints in the past. It's not as if there is a downside to trying to do better. I think the bottom line is that the game is over and the outcome won't change, and that it's true that you cant go to OSU, turn the ball over three times and expect to win. But you CAN expect that the refs and sideline crews and support staff and everyone else do their jobs with integrity.

So my point is that it is the football team's job to go back to the drawing board and find a way to go on the road and play better, so that they aren't subject to the whims of some Buckeye Bobby or Spartan Bob, but it is now the AD's job to make sure that the conference does its job properly.

And it is our job as fans to remind Ohio people that unless they go back to some point in the 80s or perhaps even beyond, they have no experience in winning The Game solely the field. The Tressells and Buckeye Bobbys and all that are what makes them inferior to us. We are culturally different. Truly. Chris Webber is still a mark of shame in Ann Arbor more than 20 years on, whereas Tressell was never even for a minute anything other than a point of pride down there.

When Michigan wins, it wins clean. Buckeyes will never know that joy. They need to be reminded of this mark of inferiority. Constantly.

        • M was in modest control for the first half. The 3 point lead was about right -- if M doesn't throw the pick 6, OSU gets the ball, probably around their own 40 and maybe gets a FG attempt, maybe not -- but there's no time for M to get a TD drive. So, either 3-0 or 10-7. They had a great start to 3rd thanks to the tipped INT and got up by 10 and it looked bad. However, Baker's interception got OSU back in the game and OSU railed them in the 4th quarter and could have easily won the game in regulation if, e.g., they had made 2 trips inside the f'n 5 count for more than 3 points.

At the end of regulations, OSU had 280 yards and M had 279 yards. OSU could run the ball in fits and spurts; M could pass the ball in fits in spurts. It was pretty even at the end of 60.

Shows the mental side of it. Michigan was probably a FG away from taking commanding control of the game, and outplaying OSU by a wide margin. Yet, you're right that it ended up even, statistically. In the end, I think this shows the importance of going for the jugular, and not letting the other team up off the mat, but also the importance of doing it at the right time. Patience is a virtue. Meyer was the more patient of the two coaches.

            • All fanbases whine about the officials. No one -NO ONE- can outdo the Vols. Talent, years ago, coined the WWAVC (world wide anti-Vol conspiracy). I think that's why Jeff closed the thread. He didn't want M to supplant Vol legacy.

              • If you ignored the conference affiliations and just looked at who are flat out the top four...for me it's Bama, OSU, M and then Clemson and iMHO...the gap between 4 and 5 is fairly large. I'm not even convinced UDUB is 5...could be a number of teams...

                  • Heh @ WWAVC. Penn State is also miserably awful.

And for the love of god, I agree with Wiz re top 4.

                      • I'm not that impressed with how Clemson has played this year in the bulk of their games.

Yeah, they prison-raped SoCar, but the Louisville win has lost some of its shine and FSU is a Jekyll and Hyde team. Hard to judge. I know Auburn coulda-shoulda won their game with CU.

                        • Clemson with their offense and mobile QB could be the best chance for an upset of Bama I think. Yes they have been inconsistent especially on defense but I think UDub, Wisky, PSU, Colorado, OU, Okie State would all get TRUCKED by Bama. I think M and OSU can keep it close with their coaching and defense but Bama wins. Clemson I think would have a CHANCE (like Lloyd Christmas with Mary Samsonite) in a track meet.
