  • Oh yeah, and Rodjay Burns will flip back to Louisville and OSU will take a kid you haven't heard of that is his basic equivalent.

      • Ohio State is basically done. They'll finish at 286.7 or so. UFM's classes have scored (from 2015 to 2012): 277.78, 296.06, 303.27, 281.67.

So, another good, solid class. With Bosa, Cooper and Barrow, I love the DL recruits. LB only has Borland and Keandre Jones, but I really like Borland. And Fuller is legit for the secondary.

Offensively, Haskins, Mack, Victor and Hausmann give them playmakers. I'm not a huge Haskins fan, but we'll see. He's a passing QB - far more Troy Smith than JTB. We'll see if he's anywhere near as good as Troy. I do, however, love Mack. He'll play next near. I also really like Antonio Williams at RB.

I'm not as sold on the OL. I think it's a solid, but unspectacular. I think they really needed a DT, but finished the bridesmaid on 2 (soon to be 3) separate occasions. And I'm nonplussed by some of the their secondary recruits. Fuller and Wayne Davis are both really good. The others are, eh....

For 2017 they'll have tight numbers -- I expect about 20. They'll play as much "defense" as "offense" trying to keep Shaun Wade and Isaiah Pryor in the fold. They're at 10 right now, though I guess the K could be grayshirted.

Elsewhere, I like about 4 or 5 Ohio kids that OSU just won't have room for. It'll be interesting to see who scoops them up. All in all, another fun year of recruiting!

        • Adding a JUCO OL puts OSU in the barn at 288.70 -- UFM's 3rd best class in his 5 years.

Should finish #6 or so in the Composite.

          • Another extremely talented pull for UFM. Him and Saban are heads and shoulders above other coaches in terms of recruiting consistency. Watch out for Kirby Smart down in Georgia moving forward. The SEC East needs a leader and they may have found it. Hoping Butch Jones can do work in Tennessee.

            • Urbs just plugs away. It's what he does. Really good recruiter. Next year will be interesting. He'll have his own "purge" to create space for next year's class.

Kirby is doing a great job out the gate. I expect that to continue. It's a shame. UFM has done well in Georgia.

Butch is doing a nice job a UT. He basically overhauled the roster much like your boy did, but with less fanfare (good and bad). He's pretty much at a roster that's complete enough to win the SEC East. Still not sold on him as an overall HC, but he's done a nice job getting them back to talent parity with at least the 2nd tier SEC schools - ie, Not Alabama.

              • They will never be at that level with Mike Debord as the OC.

                • Tennessee was arguably the best team in the East by midway through the year.

                  • Mostly for Oracle since he now has a stake in the outcome of Ohio State's 2017 class. OSU's current commits are in bold. The commits I think could decommit are in italics. The rankings are from the 247 composite. The projections are only kids that I feel are a reasonable possibility. Where appropriate I put the major competition at the moment in parens:

                    QB: Danny Clark, 4*, #259
                    RB: Todd Sibley, 4*, #187
                    WR: Trevon Grimes, 5*, #11
                    WR: Jaylon Harris, 4*, #147
                    WR: [DPJ and others]
                    OT: Josh Myers, 5*, #3
                    OT: Jake Moretti, 4*, #73
                    DT: Jerron Cage, 4*, #220
                    DT: Fred Hansard, 4&, #111
                    DE: ?
LB: Isaiah Pryor (HS Safety), 4*, #31
                    S/LB: Brendan White 4*, #188
                    CB: Shaun Wade, 5*, #12
CB: Lamont Wade, 4*, #58 (Pitt)
                    CB: Marcus Williamson, 4* #59
                    S: Jeffrey Okudah, 5*, #10 (Stanford)

I feel very good about Grimes and Harris. So that would give them 3 5* and 8 4* kids. Okudah was, IMO, coming to OSU until Ash left. Now OSU is quite as comfortable with him. I think Stanford is a real threat.

But, if you add Grimes, Harris and Okudah, OSU's class is at 252.79 for 12 players. Hansard and Lamont Wade would put them at 275 for 14. Both those kids really like OSU, but I think Wade will eventually stay home and I just know about Hansard.

Anyway, that's where OSU sits currently. If you go back and look at similar posts the past 5 or 6 Februarys you'll see much, much, much changes. And, for certain, the recruiting ratings will change a lot from now until 2017.

                    • How did your "Signing of the Stars" Signing of the Star, starring Gerg Schiano go yesterday? You guys had some cake?

Suppose Urbie kept Gerg behind the scenes in charge of tech, given his poor coaching record and all?

                        • Indeed.

Between Jeter,, Brady and Harbaugh, there must be 3/4's of a billion dollars of MLB/NFL salary seated on that couch.

Scarlet n Gray, not so much.

M sure knows how to bring out the big guns to celebrate finishing behind Ohio State once again.

                              • I did appreciate Signing With the Stars. It was the official embrace of SEC style recruiting. But it wasn't because SEC Lou Holtz did the dab. It wasn't Jim Leyland, he was a footnote. Getting the Dirtiest Player in the Game to show up was impressive.
