  • Cleveland Plain Dealer has him rated as the #1 player in the nation but of course that ranking belongs to Rashan Gary. LOL

Hardman is actually the #11-12 rated player in the nation and the AA News accurately reported as such on the 18th.

    Cleveland Plain Dealer:
Mecole Hardman, the nation's No. 1-rated athlete, adds Ohio State to his list following official visit
The five-star athlete of Elberton (Ga.) Elbert County took an official visit to Ohio State over the weekend, and now that list has been updated.

    AA News:
The 5-foot-11, 169-pound Hardman is viewed as a wide receiver or cornerback (or possibly both) at the college level and is the No. 11-ranked player nationally, per 247sports.
Alabama is still viewed as the favorite for the versatile five-star prospect, but Michigan's technically still alive.

    • There is a chance for Hardman? He's going to be Percy Harvin part 2 in college.

      • Hardman is heading to Bama, likely.

        • I still think it's Georgia, but OSU is very much in play. UGa, Bama or OSU.

            • They apparently have Bruce IF there's room. Not sure they have 2 spots for an H. I can't imagine not taking Bruce. Hardman is still less likely than not.

              • For the life of me, I can't understand why OSU has 3 f'n TEs in this class. I mean, they're all good, but meh...two of them are TE-only. One may be able to move around to other positions. In the meantime, roster spots are at a premium, especially for 2017.

Anyway, on Hardman, he apparently told UFM and some recruits he's coming, but that's more of the "visit glow" stuff. He'll probably be all Alabama after this weekend. And I'm still betting he ends up at Georgia. But, he's worth speculating about because, well, he good.

                    • They use power w/ 2 TEs a fair bit. If they had, e.g., done that more against, say, MSU...well...

So, they need 2 TEs that can play. They probably needed 2 in this class. 3...well, I dunno...I have to think one of them will end up somewhere else.

The numbers for 2017 are ultra tight and OSU is really, really "in" on sooooo many good players....it'll be tough. Reminiscent of some USC classes where they had 15-17 kids and still finished in the top 5-10.

                      • A little off the wall, but I think it's worth mentioning -- Roger Lewis will enter the NFL Draft -- and get drafted! Who is Roger Lewis? He is a kid from the Columbus-area that had a scholarship to play for Ohio State. Then he was accused of sexual assualt/rape in his senior year of high school. The allegations remained through signing day and Ohio State dropped him.

He eventually cleared his name and ended up at Bowling Green. He ended up being a very good WR for BGSU. 247 rates him as one of the top 100 players in CFB. He should get drafted and hopefully end up having a viable NFL career.

I always felt terrible for the kid, but it's really great to see how he turned out. Lots to be learned from him.

And, man, OSU could have used another WR this year!
