  • He is a good coach. He left Bama, though. Mel Tucker came and has been lights out as a position coach and has a good resume.

Pruitt is a hothead, and while Saban kept him under control, reportedly he does not play well with other assistants, and there are rumors of questionable co-ed chasing.

    Not a fan.

    • Plus, Mel Tucker is black, and having a black DC may help with recruiting.

      • Alright, I'm fully on-board with Schiano. My inclination is toward "up and comers" like Herman and Ash, but Schiano brings a ton to the table. They needed the hire to coach DBs and Schiano has gads of experience doing that. They needed him to be able to recruit, and he knows how to do that. He's basically a good CFB HC that failed in Tampa. And now he's a DC. I'll call that a really, really good hire.

Plus, he's far more likely to leave his CBs on an island and load up against the run. Like they should have done against MSU -- and shut them out. Bah.

        Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

That's the Nick's way. Man-to-man, or a cover one, and stop the run. Transition to a cover two or a nickel (depending on down and distance) in passing situations.

          • Ash was press quarters ala Narduzzi/Dantonio. Good stuff. But he was slow to bring a safety into the box, which was fine because OSU's DL destroyed almost everyone they played. And they whipped MSU for 3 quarters until the sheer volume of plays, being outnumbered to the boundary and offsides nonsense finally got them.

But MSU should have gone 3 and out every f'n series in that game. Load the box and make MSU hit silly passes to Burbridge -- which they did -- once.

Schiano is press but he's more aggressive early in the series against the run. More importantly, he knows what he's doing.

            • Nick has used a quarters defense at Bama, and more extensively at LSU. This year, not so much.

              • Your CBs aren't a liability this year.

                • True. And that is due to our new secondary coach, Mel Tucker. Perhaps you have heard me mention him before.

                  • Schiano is a disaster of a hire, If Meyer is trying to play "keeping up the NFL Harbaughs" at least hire a winner, not some fired, unemployed bum who spent the last 2 years drinking more scotch than Johnny Walker.

Luke Fickell "f'ed" over yet again? He's about to go Postal if you ask me.

This post is nearly the OSU equivalent of a Brian Cook/Sam Webb post. I say nearly because there wasn't enough complaining about refs.

                      • Schiano's greatest contribution to the game of football is blasting the opposing team when they are in the Victory formation. I'm not sure how much Urbz will have to use this tactic.

                        • Looks like OSU is doomed. Prime and Sparty Prime have spoken.

                          • OSU is doomed because of HARBAUGH! But so is everybody.

                            • Good to see you boys coming around to the HARBAUGH!!! reality.

Did I mention I hate this time of year almost as much as the dull drums of July. Between the end of the regular season and NYD bowls (fuck the rest - worthless) the only news is the garbage type of dumb rumors (Peppers has a broken hand) and people trying to get a scoop (Pruit will take the job if JH offers it). Face palm.

My only solace is that, right now, talent is hating it more ....... with osu mostly sitting this one out. Heh.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                              • First world problems.
Speculation on the best DC's available sure as hell beats , "It will take 3 or 4 years of excellent recruitment just to reach parity with Meyer. Regarding turning the program around, next to impossible, if ever by JH, becuase Talent said so too."

Hopefully that poison is buried and soon.

                                Total assplant.
