  • Incidentally, Troy Smith gets his number retired on Saturday. I think it's appropriate seeing as how there's probably few, if any, OSU players that M fans hate more. Well, to the extent M fans still feel emotion.

Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

    • ESPN has shrewdly and predictably moved from pumping up the SEC Network to pumping up the biggest dollar value showdown for the CFP. The Nick-UFM takes the cake. Hence, even the likes of David Pollack are speaking about OSU in favorable terms. I shit you not.

The one game no one living in the First World wants to see is Mississippi State-Alabama.

      • Exactly. Fuck Miss State. Much rather play the Bucknuts.

Although, I'm not sure we beat Auburn.

Yeah, three points on your own field is a HUGE whipping. And yes, your defeats in 93, 95 and 96 were indeed the absolute biggest choke jobs in this series.

Relish in the present- we certainly have been betrayed from within for the last decade. But do better research in the archives before you spout any more nonsense.

          • Woah ..... sits back with bag of pop corn to hear the response.

Good job Tom. Despite the victim (M football) and its sucking chest wound reality, it's still osu week.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

            • Getting dominated all game and scoring a meaningless TD in the finals seconds doesn't make the game close. M never, NEVER had the ball in the 2nd half with a chance to take the lead. OSU was essily the best team. And, yes, I will live in the present or I as like to call it - this millenium.

              • Meh ..... Marginally well played.

The gusto is gone, I'll certainly be the first to admit that.

                • Best team Tressell could buy. You have never and will never know the joy of winning clean. Flipside, it must be awful to cheat and still lose. We wouldn't know -- just a guess.

(Harbaugh. Good god this is ridiculous.)

                    wtf?

Maybe you are referring to 2006? 8 years ago and unless you've killed somebody, it's history- no more relevant than Shawn Springs sprawled out on the ground like the coyote after an Acme anvil fell on him, like Biakabutuku - who would still be running if the game clock hadn't stopped in 1995, and Stanley Jackson practically inventing the concept of horrible interception (which M has, admittedly perfected).

Yeah, we suck- you won't find any of us denying it. We hate that, pretty much are just holding out until a better day comes along. It might not.

But history is good fun. Especially when you get it and can laugh at the whiny tools that don't.

                    • I was referring to 2006, Tom. With complete accuracy.

In any event, as Buchanan notes, the gusto isn't quite there. Though it was nice to recall the single worst interception I've ever seen am OSU QB throw. Bausermann had his share of unspeakably bad throws, but those were mostly intercepted by hot dog vendors.

                        • Noah Spence joins Mitch McGary and others who have felt the hammer of the B10's drug policy. McGary's ridiculous 1-year suspension for smoking pot still takes the cake. But, Spence lost his appeal to the B10 and is now permanently banned for taking an performance enhancing drug....Ecstasy. How on earth that qualifies as a PED is beyond me, but hey, it's the rule.

Spence can, of course, transfer to most other conferences (including the SEC) and play. As we know from, say, the Honey Badger, the SEC's drug policy is a bit more permissive. He can also go pro.

The ultimate failure is still Spence's. He failed one test so he was suspended and subject to future testing. The league gave him windows of time when he would be tested and he still managed to fail. The rules are the rules and he had plenty of notice and opportunity to comply. However, it's worth pointing out the rules for the B10 are, once again, different than the rules for other conferences. As it is with the 28 scholarship hard limit.

That is the injury RG3 suffered... which kept him out a month.

For some perspective, Minnesota (and Indiana FWIW) has now been on a drought as long as Northwestern's was from 1948 to 1995
