Incidentally, Troy Smith gets his number retired on Saturday. I think it's appropriate seeing as how there's probably few, if any, OSU players that M fans hate more. Well, to the extent M fans still feel emotion.

Getting dominated all game and scoring a meaningless TD in the finals seconds doesn't make the game close. M never, NEVER had the ball in the 2nd half with a chance to take the lead. In any event, as Buchanan notes, the gusto isn't quite there. Though it was nice to recall the single worst interception I've ever seen am OSU QB throw. Noah Spence joins Mitch McGary and others who have felt the hammer of the B10's drug policy. McGary's ridiculous 1-year suspension for smoking pot still takes the cake. But, Spence lost his appeal to the B10 and is now permanently banned for taking an performance enhancing drug....Ecstasy. How on earth that qualifies as a PED is beyond me, but hey, it's the rule.
Spence can, of course, transfer to most other conferences (including the SEC) and play. As we know from, say, the Honey Badger, the SEC's drug policy is a bit more permissive. He can also go pro.
The ultimate failure is still Spence's. He failed one test so he was suspended and subject to future testing. The league gave him windows of time when he would be tested and he still managed to fail. The rules are the rules and he had plenty of notice and opportunity to comply. However, it's worth pointing out the rules for the B10 are, once again, different than the rules for other conferences.
