The two are indepedent of one another. Slade was never really sold on MSU and has been talking to OSU (Larry Johnson) for awhile. He'll commit to OSU. This is all LJS. He likes him.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Great class for UFM. Addressed the two huge areas of need (OL, LB) in a big-time way and also landed a ridiculous DB haul. Only thing really missing was the big-time QB. That will be remedied in 2015.
The roster is getting there. Next year should be more of the same -- and OSU is finally back to 85 scholarships after several years of crippling sanctions.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

It appears Mike Mitchell will transfer to be closer to home with his father. His father's health condition, which was not good, has taken a turn for the worse and I guess he wants to be closer to home. I also think he was frustrated getting redshirted, but that could have been smoothed over. It seems like he's going to take some time away from football period. Hopefully things work out for him -- hopefully he ends up back at OSU, but doesn't look like it.
From an OSU perspective, they lose a super-talented 5* player at gross position of need -- LB. They will also lose his 5* PF brother from hoops. And they lost a big "in" with Soso Jamambo, to the extent they're pushing hard for him.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Matta was pretty flush. What a coach, though. He's working with so little in the way of talent on that team right now. His teams swing the ball the perimeter after a kick back from the paint around so well.
