His NFL career or lack thereof isn't my concern. What was my concern is that he definitely had it in his mind that he was going to the NFL after this season. Fortunately, he was sensible enough to listen to draft grades and virtually everyone he asked and opted to return. In so doing he spared me the agony of a 9-3 transition season. Huzzah.

That's an excellent hire. Unless Johnson is getting too old. I don't know how long he has been at PSU. It's a big loss for Penn State. He was probably one of the few guys keeping that program respectable.Comment

He's 61. I tend to agree that he played a large role in keeping that program afloat for, well, the past decade? I mean, JoePa effectively became a figurehead well before his tragic end.That's an excellent hire. Unless Johnson is getting too old. I don't know how long he has been at PSU. I'm not sure he can recruit as well as he did in the day (he was, incidentally, hated by OSU fans as a recruiter which suggests he was very effective). I do think he is a really good position coach. If he can teach OSU's DL to recognize a screen I'll consider that an accomplishment of the highest order, on par with teaching a gerbil Swahili. The DL, at least, has a chance, which is more than I can say for OSU's LBs.
