Can't say definitively what the Bryant loss means, but Roby did let a lot of stuff get by him and whoever Wisky's OC is saw that.
Don't know who watched the Georgia/LSU game but if you did, you almost saw the classic dumb shit coaching move associated with making the opponent's offense run a lot of plays and burn clock to score. Play your DBs off the LOS, nothing gets over their heads; LBs lose and at best a 4 man rush, at worst, and Richt did this, a three man rush with a really good LSU QB (Mettenger) sitting back there and plinking away playing pitch and catch with wide open receivers. Arggggghhhhh.
My Georgia friends watching this game with me were going nutz over Richt's conservative approach where, on that series, Miles called the offense and promptly put LSU back in the lead right after Georgia scored a go ahead TD with 5m left. Georgia got lucky and Murray, GA's QB, played the game of his life to win it.
The reason I bring this up is that it seems a lot of coaches do this shit. It sucks and I'd like to see more coaches that do this kind of thing get dinged by it. Hokeattison does it and maybe there was some of that in osu v. Wisky late. On LUS's and Wisky's last possessions with LSU a FG away from tying, Georgia's D brought the house on every play. osu did too. The result? LSU and Wisconsin lost.
Why are we waiting until THE LAST DRIVE for this. Wouldn't you rather have the last drive being executed by YOUR team in a deflating drive to end it for the opponent? I would.Last edited by Jeff Buchanan; September 29, 2013, 03:08 PM.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. If Alabama loses to LSU and wins all the rest of their games including the SEC championship game over a top 5 Georgia they would play in the championship game over an undefeated OSU with their tissuepaper schedule.
Similarly if LSU runs the table (including beating Alabama and a rematch over Georgia in the SEC championship game) they would go over OSU
Also if Georgia runs the table including beating either Alabama or LSU they would go over OSU

As much as whoDean loves to bash the B1G, and whether those comments are thoughtful or not, in the end what's going on here is that the SEC is akin to a child whose parents do not establish boundaries. The behavior will get worse and worse until somebody steps in and mandates something more appropriate. We're going to start to see these types of arguments from people with SEC sensibilities, to put it kindly, and they won't stop until the system is rigged to the fullest extent that it can be. The system needs to deny the SEC what it wants and endure the ensuing temper tantrum. If it can.Last edited by hack; September 29, 2013, 05:03 PM.

An Ohio State team that has won 25 straight games will not be left out for any 1-loss team. They will be ranked ahead of every 1-loss team in both polls by a considerable margin. So, 2/3rds will be OSU. The computers will have to make up a lot of ground.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

I heard a thoughtful interview by the President of the Athletic Director's Association, Purdue's AD, who has been very outspoken on a number of issues including stipends and conference alignment.
He said the ADs along with another organization of stake holders, have a number or proposals they have already agreed upon going forward to the NCAA. Not that this has much to do with the generalized problem assoicated with creating a level playing field but it highlights how these guys think and act. They seek small, incremental steps, those steps being arrived at by consensus/committee.
I don't see Delaney or anyone else doing a smack down on the SEC/Slive as much as we'd like for it to happen and as much as those f'er's need one.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. That's how it worked for the LSU-Alabama rematch. The SEC interprets the rulebook as heads we win/tails you lose, and precedents or other guidelines mean different things in different years. It works for them. If OSU goes undefeated and doesn't get the title game, I guarantee you in the future, the very next time a 1-loss team has a chance against a B1G undefeated we'll hear how this set a precedent in general. Reverse the situation and the SEC will interpret the potential precedent narrowly has having to do with SOS.
I don't think there needs to be a smackdown per say, or some sort of public confrontation. Things can be done behind the scenes, and with this sort of thing probably is done that way more than we know.

This, however, is not true. It's just something SEC people repeat in late November and early December.
The Big10 needs to win some big games to re-establish it's national identity.
But of course, the SEC cheats (just keep telling yourself that is reason 1-10 why the Big10 isn't treated fairly)Last edited by whodean; September 29, 2013, 07:56 PM.Atlanta, GA
