  • Well it's official, Hyde sits for Buffalo, SDSU & Cal, returns just in time for mighty Florida A & M.

Glade to see Meyer, like Tressel will not allow a player's predisposition for criminal activity get in the way of playing football.

I guess things must go "Hernandez Nuclear" before someone in authority acts in the best interest of the victims and not the football program.

Bodies must start stacking up, Hyde needs caught with a couple of badly-beaten female victims in the freezer at his dorm and Chris Carter needs to actually be caught with a trunk full of kiddies before their obvious criminal behavior is sanctioned in the interest of the public at large?

OSU had the chance to do the right thing here, they failed again, miserably.

Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde will not be charged in nightclub incident

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus police will not file charges against Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde after the woman who reported an attack, in an interview with police on Saturday, decided that she did not want to pursue the case.

Columbus police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner told The Plain Dealer today that once that decision was made by the woman, the case was officially closed, regardless of what evidence may or may not be present.

The news was first reported by 610 WTVN radio in Columbus.

Ohio State coaches are aware of the decision to not press changes.

Hyde was named as a person of interest July 22 after an incident at a Columbus nightclub.

“This is a case where it's up to the victim,” Weiner said. “We were in the middle of the case, and the important part was interviewing her. We were able to do so, and it was during that interview when she said she didn't want to press charges.”
Hyde still could be disciplined by Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, who suspended Hyde indefinitely while the case was investigated.
While the investigation was ongoing, several reports appeared about what may have happened in the nightclub, and Weiner wanted to make a comment on those reports.

"I don't want to rip on the media,” Weiner said. “The case, for whatever reason, the media made it high-profile. There were many sources being quoted as factual, and that was reported. I'm not going to comment on the video. The video will speak for itself.

"This is a reminder that we have two people involved, we had the victim and we had the accused, and both of them have rights, and the investigation had to be able to run its course. And a lot of people jumped to conclusions and listened to rumors. And they're going to find out that the rumors that were quoted were wrong. And we'll leave it at that.”

              • I love how one sentence gets this crowd dancing. LOL.

Admitted 2nd degree felons gets 1 game suspensions at M; uncharged, nightclub silliness gets 3 games under UFM.

                • All bullshit aside IAM...
                  1. I don't think Hyde should lose his livelihood because of this, although its obviously wrong. I think three games is probably a bit much, but public pressure required it. The bigger problem than the punishment is that it happened in the first place. I don't care much about how long jail sentences are, I only care if the crimes happen.

                  2. Hokes treatment of Clark really perplexes me. I hope it's not because he is good. It doesn't seem like that's the case because Stonum was good and at a position of dire need. Hagerup was very good and he's missed a year and a half now. And IMO what Clark did was much worse than both. But, he knows his guys better than I do (as does Urban I guess).

Anyway, back to it! Urbz Blows!

                  • I think I summed up my feelings up thread somewhere in the morass of idiocy.

Hyde made several poor decisions. He was extremely lucky that (a) his little flip/push/whatever didn't make much contact, if any and (b) there was a video of it.

                    Legally, it was a non-issue.

However, he's held to a higher standard because he plays for OSU. And that's fine -- as it should be. I thought 2 games was appropriate simply for being a dumbass. I'm not too upset about 3 games.

I think Clark probably got off a little easy. Fitz was appropriate.

                      Neither did Trayvon Martin.

                      • Well one of the reasons Meyer took the UF job in the first place is that he figured he could keep team arrests down using the stand-your-ground law...

Sucker punching someone and doing an MMA ground-and-pound on a guy is definitely starting an altercation.

I believe he got 3 games because Meyer has been under the microscope as of late, not because he plays for osu. Urban gave him a tough sentence, but it's one they can live with.

Definitely a smart move by Meyer.
