I appreciate the offer Jeff, but I have high school football on Saturdays in the fall. I generally don't get to any college football games until we get punched out of the state playoffs. Which, if we don't win on 10/17, we are in danger of missing.

Maryland dumpster is completely on fire now. Should provide, O-state with exactly what it needs to right the ship, unfortunately for us.

The Maryland game last season was when they started to turn the corner. The week before they had destroyed Cincinnati offensively, but given up 3 really long TD passes that made the game uncomfortable at half. Against Maryland the offense continued to roll and the defense improved. I think it was 31-10 at half and 38-10 after the first drive of the 2nd half.

They still had some bumps. The 2nd half against Penn State was awful. The first 55 minutes against Indiana were not good. And the first half against M was crapola. But you could start to see the team trending in the right direction.

They should win this game by 40 points. There's no earthly way to sandbag Maryland. They're an awful team. If Ohio State is going to show any life this season, this game needs to be authoritative. Hell, the first half needs to be dominant. And I'll be disappointed if any of the next 5 games is close. That will mean they are way negative in "losing" plays -- as they were against IU. And that's losing football -- when you play someone worth a shit.

I'd look at it this way ........

Sure Maryland is terribullll in the stat department and QB Calebe Rowe is a head case and certainly did not pass the eye test. He is a turnover machine reminiscent of Devin Gardner in the Nussmeir offense. Good luck with that, Randy.

Maryland's OL had a rough time of it against M's nationally ranked defense. But can osu's front get the pressure they need to push Rowe into the turnover machine he was against M? Can osu's D force Rowe into passing by shutting down the run game? Maryland did have some early (very early) success with what Maryland does in the run game that got quickly figured out. Can osu do that?

Frankly, I've not seen anything from osu's D that says they can do any of those things. They certainly didn't do it against IU that runs a very similar gun slinging offense. That's off-set by the question, assuming Rowe can remain upright to survey the field, who's he going to throw to? ..... or ..... who is going to run the ball well for the Terps? There are no stars here but there are no stars among osu's DBs or their edge players either based on their body of work.

And then, there is Will Likely running back punts against teams with weak STs. I don't know much about osu there but M did an outstanding job of keeping the ball out of his hands and when he did try to return one there was ZERO opportunities for him to do that. He is a dangerman if there ever was one and a couple of nice punt returns and Maryland might make this interesting ........

Don't forget Yannick Ngaouke v. whatever QB starts. CJ is going to find himself looking into Ngaouke's grill more than a few times. I think JTB matches up better against a threat like this than CJ but what do I know other than JTB is a much better option at QB right now, it would appear, than Jones . Anyway, a little bit of heat there to throw off CJ's rhythm would be nice, impair his confidence and increase CJ's tendency to make wild throws that Will Likely is likely to intercept and you have another match-up that could keep Maryland in this game.

No question, osu fans would like a big win and I suppose that's more possible than Maryland staying in this game is. But everybody thought osu would blow out NIU, WMU and IU and all of those games were uncomfortable for osu fans because none of them were blowouts and without ezi elliot in the line-up and making big plays to keep them out front, one of those games could have easily been a big L. IU comes to mind.

Looking forward to another frightfully abysmal game by the bucks, gnashing of teeth by osu fans, tears from the faithful and deep depression following whatever the outcome is.

Jeff, good analysis... but I can't agree with you on this one. You are not accounting for the fact that the team has had demoralizing losses, no confidence in their QB, and new that there coach is gone after the season.

They are going to be mailing it in against a team that is vastly superior ... not a good combination.

Talent finally breaths a big sigh of relief this weekend and starts to get his moxie back that O-state has turned the corner is rounding into championship form.

Oh, I think you're right. The Maryland players have a very high potential to mail this entire season in and I'm not sure Randy Edsell has much of a connection with his team at all it would appear so, yes.

But, I just love it when osu fans get sweaty arm pits and upper lips. I like to contribute to that.

And, yes, UFM's 4th loss at Ohio State is coming. I used to think HARBAUGH!!!! would lose 4 at M before UFM would lose 4 at OSU, but that's not going to happen.

It'll be sad. Personally I think he'll get to 48-3 before losing to Sparty and then, of course, HARBAUGH!!!! That'll make him 48-5 and 30-2 in the B10 after 4 years. Not great, but I guess I'll live with it.

osu's roster is full of stars not playing up to their potential.

You've probably seen most of this and cried but perhaps others will enjoy it. It's a 4 minute video featuring some excellent plays by IU to the perimeter of osu's D, among other places. This is not a good osu defense ..... despite all the stars.
