Mack is in. Not sure Mitchell is a take for them right now. I like him and think he'd be a nice pickup, but what do I know. Mack is the guy they love. I think they'll take Mack and chase elite knowing they are going to crush 2017 starting with Grimes. NCM is a guy they'll be in on come February. They'd also take Corley or Victor in a heartbeat.
I'm sure I'll be wrong, but that's my take as of 5-14!
I should also add that Justin Layne would have been a surefire take last season and the best WR in the class, but this season -- they passed. They're going big.Last edited by iam416; May 15, 2015, 07:45 AM.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Ohio State LAX falls to Denver in the quarterfinals. Couldn't win an f'n face-off in the 2nd and 3rd. Almost had 3 B10 teams out of 4 in the FF with Maryland and, heh, Hopkins also making it. Hopkins is playing lights out.
Interesting sport. It's semi-watchable if you've never played. Youth participation is still below 1 million, but it's considerably higher than hockey. As a college sport, it's on TV more than hockey. Could end up being the "king of the minor sports". It's really big where I live -- in fact there are two dedicated stores within miles of one another. Of course, there's probably 2 people playing it in all of Nebraska and Iowa combined.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

My son just started playing it, he's a goalie. Its a growing sport but in Michigan it is still a small sport as in there were only 120 LAX programs. So his team was in a bad position, the program was only 2 years old but they had to play a lot of big schools that have been doing it for a long time. They didn't have too many wins and some of the games were ugly.
But the faceoffs are huge, much more important than a hockey faceoff. I din't know much about the sport until this spring but I'm starting to learn. It is compared to hockey mostly, but it probably has as much in common with basketball. A lot of the same principles in basketball apply in Lacrosse, especially with how to attack zones versus man.

Face-offs are the only turn off to this very casual viewer. It seems that the other team should get possession after a goal. But, hey, I generally find it abhorrent when casual fans complain about rules that are part and parcel to the game, so my statement is just an observation.
LAX is huge in our school district. My son even wanted a stick so he could learn how to play. It's still relatively limited throughout the state. I suspect it will continue to grow and start filtering down a bit from the big, suburban schools to the the mid-size suburban schools. My son's team had one game at Detroit Southeastern, I had never been to that part of Detroit, it reminds you of how big the city is. Bart Scott Field hadn't been mowed and it was played in a rainstorm. They were not any good, they really couldn't pass but if they got ball they would just sprint towards the goal, every once i awhile they would find themselves with a point blank shot. I was torn, I didn't want my son to give up the goal, but their goal celebrations were amazing.

Lacrosse is huge in the east and south. I played it for three years in high school. Many of my teammates went on to play at Duke and UNC. I went to UM where it was a club sport until Brandon made it a varsity sport. The midwest has no idea how big the sport is in the east. Hell ,you dumb asses probably don't even know that one of the greatest lacrosse players of all time was Jim Brown when he was at Syracuse. "Huge in our school district" Talent is small time in the east! Ohio State had no chance when playing against the big boys. Check out USA Today today where it lists the teams that have nine national championships, starting with Princeton.Last edited by UMStan White; May 18, 2015, 05:20 PM.

Lacrosse is hugely popular in UA. I'm not sure what a senile fool in Fort Wayne would know about that.
Ohio State beat Denver, Maryland and Hopkins in the regular season -- 3 of the 4 final four teams. Additionally, they crushed Duke in Durham in the opening round before losing to Denver in Denver by 2. So, ummm, yeah...they "had no chance when playing against the big boys." Again, LOL. It's so ironic when someone throws out Jim Brown (duh) to establish some sort of credibility and then is so plainly fucking oblivious to the current state of the sport. But, that's the quality of thinking I'm accustomed to around here.
Finally, Syracuse has the most titles with 10 and Hopkins has 9. Princeton has 6.
It was, by far and away, the B10's best year ever in lacrosse. They basically housed the ACC in the tourney -- beating Duke, Virginia, UNC and Syracuse.Last edited by iam416; May 18, 2015, 06:17 PM.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

I never claimed to know anything about lacrosse but I found your nugget about Jim Brown to be comical. Next thing you are going to say is the Earth is round. The one good thing about your knowledge of lacrosse is that you knew about it long before it became popular, its makes you cool. Like the guys who knew Nirvana before Nevermind came out, "If you don't know Bleach, you don't know Nirvana man."Last edited by froot loops; May 19, 2015, 09:49 AM.
