  • Sure ........ If I was a youngster and a baller, I'd be asking, "did Kareem commit to MSU?"

    Horrible poster.
I reckon Kareem Walker recognized Kareem Walker in his HS uniform. As that was the intended audience (and he retweeted it), I reckon it worked.

The OSU RBs in the poster are Archie, Eddie and Ezekiel.

Anyway, I get the excitement of a new coach. When UFM was hired, he could do no wrong. I mean, he rescued a terrible recruiting class and ended up with a top 5 class and best in the B10 (when every M fan was bragging on how great Hoke's class was). He was in the process of putting together the bedrock class that was so instrumental to his UNDISPUTED national title. Joey Bosa, among, others, was already on board by now. I was really pumped by those results.

But, yeah, all in all, those camps and that spectacular artwork pretty much blows that shit away. Like you say, it's all about flash over substance and results. Big-time dominance by JH.

    • Well it is actually like this, all 16 recruits stuck with Ohio as Fickell worked his brand of magic, that left Meyer over 2 months to fill the 9 remaining spots.

As Hoke's Waterloo unfolded, recruits (rightfully so) abandoned Michigan in droves, JH had 6 guys left when he was hired December 30th during the dead period. That left NFL Machine Inc. 14 days to begin contacting recruits again from scratch. Remarkably strong push given the circumstances.

A 2-loss (Penn. St. VT) tainted title Iis OK I guess but not clean.

God willing, Jim & John Harbaugh will break game film down and give Meyer tons of what he has never seen before given the fact that he has never left the amateur ranks, next November. Obviously Meyer knows his limitations.

Glad to see Ohio made it the White House anyway, certain the Secret Service had to count the silverware after Meyer's departure.

      • Making excuses for HARBAUGH! ? For shame.

Well, surely his 2016 class will top the charts.

        • Dunno what you're complaining about DSL. Jeff was clear about who started it and that his comment was about perception. Are you upset that a sports fan appears to be biased towards his own team? That's a tough one. Crime of the century kinda stuff.

          • Uh, Jeff admitted he didn't know Franklin was doing them until I told him. And Franklin was doing them a year before Harbaugh showed up.

            • And now he knows and is posting accordingly.

But, still -- you've found a sports fan biased towards his own team. Quite the discovery.

No, I didn't know about Franklin's camps until "now."

Now meaning in the current frenzy about Harbaugh and his Swarm. That goes back about two weeks.

                Just to be clear.

                  Weak

I'm pretty sure you can come up with a historical list of osu backs that MIGHT equal this list of M greats, but I doubt it.

                  • Well, Mike Hart is #4 on that list. Which I find fitting since, you know, he was 0-4 against Ohio State.

But, yes, very weak list. #1 is the only 2-time Heisman winner in, well, history. #2 is also a Heisman winner. Ezekiel isn't #3, but he was on the poster, I'm sure, to illustrate how well OSU and UFM uses RBs (btw, remember when M fans told us all about how UFM never uses RBs....lol...LOL...LMFAO).

Anyway, congratulations on the spectacular artwork. I wish UFM had put up those kinds of results out of the gate.

                    • Biakabutuka should be on that list above Thomas. Thomas was mediocre, at best, until his senior year. Best of my lifetime, it's really close between Biakabutuka and Wheatley. I'll give Wheatley the nod because he had the longer career but nobody had a better one season than Timmy's 1995 campaign where he singlehandedly carried the entire offense.

                      • In my lifetime, Wheatley is the only one of the bunch that stands out as truly great. That said, I didn't watch Biakabutuka a lot because he only started one year. I know he backed up Wheatley and got a lot of carries the year before, but meh. His last season M was so mediocre...heh...four-losses--those were the days...that they were sort off my radar. I had zero idea how good he was. Wheatley, though, had the string of 2.5 seasons or so of being a badass.

I'd take Chris Perry over A-Train. Both were workman-like RBs, but I thought Perry had a little better skillset.

                        • Biakabutuka was the better RB by 1994, but Moeller went with Wheatley more often than not for some reason. Wheatley had a moderately disappointing senior year actually. That year Biakabutuka averaged 6.2 ypc and Wheatley averaged 5.4 ypc. Timmy averaged 6.0 for his career, which is excellent for a guy with mediocre top end speed. That's a full yard more than Mike Hart, who I like but his production isn't all that statistically impressive because of his distinct lack of big plays. Timmy had that uncanny ability to see holes before they opened, kind of like Denard, and he would explode through them with power. Hart and Thomas both benefitted in the record books from a lack of competition.

                          • Yeah, perhaps I should rate him higher than I do. I was just explaining that he was largely in the shadows for most CFB fans until the OSU game. That's probably why I think of Wheatley as considerably better.

Mike Hart never impressed me. I liked OSU's RBs better whenever they played, whether it was Pittman or Wells.

                            • Hart ran behind a pathetic OL for all but his freshman season. Offensive line talent (along with coaching/development) really took a nosedive around '04 and has yet to really recover... Hart saw tons of defenders in the backfield, sometimes 4-5 on one play. He worked amazingly hard for some 0-4 yd gains...

No, not arguing Hart would've been a Heisman candidate, just that he should've been a near 6yd/carry back if his offensive line was average.

                                Sure, got it ......

My sense is that historically, Michigan has had some hellaceously good, primarily run based offenses. M ran a great option offense with Taylor for a couple of years, among the best in CFB at the time. Then, of course, there was the Magicians under Fritz. Under Bo, there was always a guy who ran the ball well. Agree with WM's assessment of the suckage on the OL after 2004. Hart definitely suffered behind that POS.

Of course and admittedly, I've got that limited CFB mind focused on M football. I know the history to a certain extent but outside of that, meh. Like to hear some run game osu history that compares to M's.
