It appears to me that Mariota doesn't want to run the ball. He's had a couple of opportunities to pull on the option that he hasn't taken, and it just looks as if he's not looking to scramble unless he absolutely must. I can't see that Ohio State is doing that much to take him out of the running game-- he's mostly doing it himself.

Another poster on this board just texted me that Elliott reminds him of L. Phillips when he runs. Spot on. Phillips might have more shake, but it's like watching some old LP film.

3. Based on recruiting for the last 5 seasons, I think Ohio State is more talented. We'll see how that looks during the game. Oregon has the edge at QB, though in Ohio State's system... Anyone can be QB.
4. I've seen Sam Bradford lose to Urban Meyer in the 2009 NC game while looking "human." I've also seen the Ducks in 2009 struggle on offense vs Ohio State. Combine the Ohio State & Urban Meyer factor, I'm thinking Oregon's offense won't be that good.
Those are silly reasons, but are why I think Ohio State will win.

@BruceFeldmanCFB: #OhioState's QB (Jones); leading rusher (Elliott) & WR (Marshall) & top 4 tacklers tonight (Powell, Lee, Apple & Bell) are all FR or sophs.

Oregon is so good. Can't believe OSU is up with the 2 TOs. Ducks scored 34 in the 3rd against FSU. This thing can turn in a heartbeat. Long, long 30 minutes left. F me.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Something is going to have to change significantly for Oregon to pull this out. Their defensive line is getting handled, and their back seven isn't as athletic as Ohio State's. Mariota's been very spotty with his reads, especially in the running game-- I can't tell if Ohio State's doing something to screw him up before the snap, or if they're just winning enough battles after the snap to get stops, but I haven't seen Mariota look this frustrated since the Arizona game last year. The Ducks are moving the ball, but Ohio State's done a great job keeping the big plays to a minimum. They're making Oregon execute 12-15 times in a row instead of four or five, and right now, the Ducks can't keep up.Last edited by JRB; January 12, 2015, 10:27 PM.

Man, OSU should be blowing them out. Those two turnovers are the only thing keeping Oregon in it, just like they did for Bama in the Sugar Bowl. If Oregon somehow pulls this out, at least it will be gut-wrenching for Ohio State fans. That's very doubtful at this point, though.
