  • Michigan fans are starting to nervously glance at each other and starting to realize that Tressel may survive after all. The thought scares the hell out of you. Just when you thought there was hope, Jeff!

    • Guarantee you that Hartline's, et. al's. response in USA Today that Jon links is an orchestrated one being directed as a counter attack from osu against Small's comments.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

      • Despite the travesty, DSL, I have always been careful to not expect that the stinking pile of shit that is osu's football program will get what they deserve.

I'll only be happy when M can thrash osu on the football field in a fashion that is commensurate with what the osu football program has become - a fetid corpse of what used to be a giant of a CFB team - the Buckeys - and worthy of respect.

No matter the outcome, no matter if tressel survives, osu will forever be marked as cheaters. But truly, the only justice will come when osu leaves the playing fields in AA and c-bus, on a regular basis having been thoroughly and devestatingly whipped by the Leaders and the Best .... Champions of the West.

        • Absolutely. A "shoot the messenger to hide the message" policy. We see it in politics all the time. The risk being run is it keeps the whole mess right in the forefront of the news.

I wonder if Small will be requested for an interview by the NCAA? Even if its only one player from this class, a couple from that class, its all adding up to a 'lack of institutional control'. The potential hammer over osu keeps getting larger.

The fact that OSU fans WANT him to survive after it's been shown he's a liar and a cheat tells you EVERYTHING you ever need to know about the OSU fanbase.

            • And the osu administration as well.

                • Former OSU basketball player Mark Titus wrote Tuesday on his blog that the perks within the football program are far from a secret.

“Any OSU student in the past five years could tell you that a lot of the football players drive nice cars,” Titus wrote. “You’d have to be blind to not notice it.”
Small said there was no shortage of people trying to help Ohio State athletes.
“Everywhere you go while you’re in the process of playing at Ohio State,” Small said, “you’re going to get a deal every which way.”

                    • The entire SEC has to be laughing right now and thinking OSU is so 80's. You don't give many small gifts to a lot of guys. You give big gifts to a few. Less people to talk then...

                        • Classic stuff from an ESPN article. I guess selling drugs and laundering money make you a "quality OSU fan" in the eyes of his lawyer. Some folks just don't get it.

Rife, 31, will plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 200 pounds of marijuana, and one count of money laundering, the documents showed.

Rife remains a fan of the Ohio State football program, Palmer said.

"He didn't want any harm to come on any players or the university or the program or coach Tressel or anyone," Palmer said. "If he's responsible for anything, it's being a quality Ohio State fan."

Probably not much different than the other article linked.

                          • That piece by Dan Wetzel is nothing more that a whiny rehash of what is already known.

I'll give him credit for questioning the leadership of gee and smith - that's where the meat of his piece lies.

I'm pretty sure, osu has decided that it is going to ride this out. Unless something startling comes out (geeze, I don't see how anything more startling CAN come out), there going to sit tight while the tsunami fills in around them and then recedes.

I'm also pretty sure that tressel has enough on gee and smith to bring the whole football program down in a stunning SMU like fashion which explains the inexplicable ...... why these clowns have decided to sit tight and watch the worthless NCAA machinery meet out the only minimally damaging punishments they can. Its an interesting calculus. Bury the evidence, keep quiet and hope the NCAA can't find anything more damning. Without the ability to compel testimony, osu is playing the NCAA like the weak sister they are.

                            • The comments and what the reporter was driving act with regard to osu's head of compliance, Doug Archie are both informative and prescient.

What I love about all this is that the press smells blood. osu is in the lime light and not in a good way. Yes!

I usually hate that because who really wants to know that Arnold is f'ing his maid? But damn, this is fun stuff. Guess your view of the press depends on who they are screwing with.

                              • Regarding that article Jeff, for an administration that is in a tresselmess, they sure liked patting themselves on the back the last few years. Now they're pointing fingers at each other.
