  • I would have liked this better if they didn't have that weekly announcement show. One show at the end of the year and I would have rather they used the old BCS formula and just took the top 4. I just think this committee is all over the place. Having FSU at #4 took the cake, it is the latest sign of them overthinking things.

    • Needless to say, that was some impressive shit. Not that I think all that highly of the Badgerz, but this game speaks volumes of the masterpiece of offensive design that Urb's system is. If a kid has the right skill set, minimal experience is needed.

And if you are tough inside, know how to contain lateral runs, and have three good DBs, you can stuff Wisconsin. Check, check, and check for tOSU.

I think they should be in over Baylor, and will be.

      • meyer has demonstrated over and over again, wherever he goes, he is one of, if not THE best CFB coache(s) of his time. This win, all things considered, is better than Saban ever delivered for Bama and when you look, once again, at the entire body of work - their Resumes - I'd say meyer wins that contest hands down. Sorry AA.

Anyway enough of extolling that team from down south. This was a big win for the Big 10, no question. First, it insured it would have a team, a true conference champion, make an appearance in the first playoff. Second, in the obliteration of the Badgers, it dispelled any notion that Wisonsin is nothing more than a temporary pretender as the representative of Big Ten quality football.

The Big 12 better start thinking real hard about asking the NCAA for a waiver so they can have a conference championship game. No amount of rationalization can make either TCU or Baylor legitimate champions. Heard Baylor's AD talk about this on Sports radio on Friday. Said discussion comes up every year about this and the annual meeting. Get with it then.

Finally, the penultimate outcome for this petty good season for the Big Ten, would be to have Jim Harbaugh return to his roots, do his magic and have M competing with osu for Championhips, on a annual basis, returning the world of CFB to its natural state.

The SEC needs strong competition, and a couple of decent slap downs by the likes of osu and M in post season play to knock it off the pedestal created both by the perennial inclusion of several of its teams in the top ten and the perpetual knobbing of that conference by ESPN should do that. Having Michigan return to the top of the Big Ten, something it is going to do with Harbaugh as HC, would go a long way in assuring that kind of outcome over time.

Finally ........ Eight team playoff. At this point it is a no brainer. TCU and Baylor can be rightfully pissed off that they'll be left at the alter in the current playoff format.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

B1G on B1G violence settles very little.

If the Conference gets hammered again this Bowl season the perception will remain the same.

          • No need to apologize. You're just wrong again, Jeff. Nick Saban has more championships (4) than Urban (2), and has a winning record vs Urban (2-1) But the resumes are comparable: Nick Saban's record at Bama (86-16) is a bit better than Urban's at Florida (65-15), and that's as close as you can Apples to Apples compare them, IMO. They are fairly close, though. And UM is easily the second best coach in CFB.

Nobody in the country has won more games, has as high of a winning %, or won more championships than Nick Saban at Alabama the last 7 years, all while coaching in the toughest division in football.

That said, even if M gets Harbaugh, Meyer is now and will be then, without a doubt, the best coach in the B1G.

            • Yea 59-0 over Wisconsin... Unless the committee thinks the B10 is a bad conference, there is no way OSU doesn't make it.

There job is to put the 4 best teams in the playoffs... I wonder if they would consider Bama, Oregon, TCU, & OSU lol.

I think I'll wait until they actually coach a game against each other before I'll buy that assumption. I mean, even tired old Lloyd Carr found a way to beat the Mighty Meyer and his Tebo-Heisman juggernaut at Florida, so he can be beaten.

I'll also toss in that even the Fatman found a way for his teams to score 69 points in his last 2 games against the Mighty Meyer, so lets just see what a Jim Harbaugh team can do, before we all genuflect before Meyer.

And Jeff, if nothing else I was glad to see that OlieO exposed Wisconsin football for what its always been. A paper tiger/champion.

                  • I didn't think Wisconsin was that good too... Their QB situation is awful.
But it's still 59-0 over a 10-2 team in the same conference.

Another thing that might keep OSU out is (of course) the loss at home to VT.
                    TCU loss @ Baylor.
                    OSU loss vs VT.

That's a big deal. It's still on their resume'... and the committee has to look at that as a whole.

                      1. Bama
                      2. Oregon
                      3. FSU
                      4. TCU.

                        • The 4th spot comes down, to me between Baylor, Ohio State, and TCU.

I'd go with the Bucknuts. But any of those teams are gonna be a tough out, and the two left outside looking in are gonna be pissed, and churn out massive amounts of vitriol rhetoric toward the committee.

It would be interesting to see how the BCS would have the 4 teams ranked when all the various polls come out, although, there has been a shameful amount of mirroring between the polls and the committee and vice versa.

I don't like it any more than you Cody ... but OlieO was once again in the right place and the right time for national recognition. They're in.

OlieO vs Alabama at the Sugar Bowl.
FSU vs Oregon at the Rose Bowl.

My guess for the (still) mythical national title

Alabama vs Oregon, and I like Oregon in an upset. Bama is a tad vulnerable this year.

... and the title is still mythical until there's a real playoff of 8 or more teams.

The "when talking resumes" is understood (by me, anyway) at the end. Because it was Jeff's resume post I was responding to. But if you prefer:

                              • I don't know that Oregon over Bama is a real upset. FPI gets the Ducks a 55% chance (or something close) to win that game.
