    • No .... that honor that ufm has yet to receive is recognition that you people cheat.

      Move to the SEC.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

      • Meyer is in the B1G because there's less competition for the Cheater of the Year award.

          • Meyer should have won CotY in 2012.

            • But Bill O'Brien took over a 9-4 team and got them to 8-4! And only lost to OSU by 19 at home! Heh. I love this award.

I get that not every 11 win season is equal. I thought UFM did a great job in 2012 and I thought he did an even better job this season. Next year they're so f'n stacked that 11 or 12 wins really won't say much.

Anywho, the incoming M coach is well-positioned to win CoY. He should have a +3 gain in wins if his style meshes with plenty of talent.

              Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

              • I had already forgetten who won it that year. Yeah, the Bill O'Brien thing was silly.

Other than that, OSU coaches have had the grave misfortune of their best seasons coinciding with crazy overachievement by a shitty program. 1993 -- Wisconsin, 1995 --NW, 1996 -- NW, 1998 -- Wisconsin, 2002 -- Iowa, 2014 -- Minnehaha

I'm setting the floor at +3 if it's a guy whose style meshes with the talent. Turnover margin alone is probably worth 2-3 wins. Add special teams onto that for another half of a win.

                  • Kirk Ferentz has won the award 3 times.

John L Smith won COTY in 2003. That was an extremely memorable year for them, right? They went 8-5, scored 3 points in their bowl game, and lost 4 of their last 5 games. Well earned Mr. Smith

                    • Didn't Zook win the award too?

Yes, 2007, for taking the Illini to the Rose Bowl. That was at least sort-of-justified.

John L Smith is a mystery. Tied for 4th place with the 7th best record in the league? OTOH his reputation wasn't destroyed yet at that point...he was still thought of as the guy who made Louisville relevant

                        • What I get out of this is that if your coach wins Big Ten COY, he should be fired immediately.

                          • Heh heh. Winner!

If only Iowa heeded that advice they might actually have a chance to be more than a middling pile of crap.

That said, Dantonio did win it, and he's competent. And I think Kill is good, too.

                            • Twitter tells me Kansas has offered Ed Warriner their open HC job. I hope to christ twitter is wrong. That would be a big loss, especially with Herman definitely open to any credible HC offer.
