UFM is a terrific coach, just look at his past history. That is pretty much indisputable, he's had a lot of success everywhere he's been.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Today's Gallant Defeat journeys from the RichGOD Era back to 2003 when M was actually good. In 2003 M had, arguably, its most talented team of the century. Sure, they were a tad flawed at QB, but Navarre had finally grown into the role and was playing well. With a stellar offensive line, Chris Perry and Braylon Edwards, M had an offense that only LLLLLLoyd could slow down.
After a disastrous loss at Autzen early in the season, M traveled to Iowa where they controlled most of the game. Unfortunately, the part of the game they didn't control proved decisive -- special teams. M conceded a big return at the end of the half to throw Iowa a lifeline, and its newfangled rugby punt formation led to a blocked punt of surprising ease. No highlights available, but a nice version of Michigan Replay is. The best part of this is to hear Coach Carr point out 3 bad calls on "the key play of the game" (punt return). Though M was undoubtedly screwed in Iowa City by the refs, the system, a rogue Iowa program and possibly some sort of NASA-CIA cooperative involvement, the M boys fought bravely and heroically before finally succumbing to mighty Iowa and the various worldwide anti-M forces in their corner. Here is Coach Carr and that Brandstatter fella recounting another brilliant and memorable Gallant Defeat:

You named it, you shall watch it. 1976 Rose Bowl, UCLA with Dick Vermeil as HC beat #1 ranked osu 23-10. Two years later Woody would punch out a Clemson player and unceremoniously leave osu.

...... and of course, the era of misbehavior of osu coaches embarrassing the conference on a regular basis began long ago. Below is Woody going bezerk after he claimed Jerry Markbreit missed a PI call against Tom Dardin in a 1971 game in AA. Woody got a one game suspension ..... that was effective and here began the long standing tradition of those in authority overlooking what goes on down there most of the time.Last edited by Jeff Buchanan; July 19, 2013, 10:59 AM.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Not done yet ..... the bucks continue to demonstrate appalling sportsmanship. This time its the players. If any one thinks, osu coaches don't coach there players to disrespect anything that has anything to do with Michigan, I've got some great Time Share property to sell you in FL.

They'll never do that again. The marching band's formation makes it impossible for the visiting team to come to the center of the field. They have to make an awkward run toward the south endzone, and by time they get there, they are starting the national anthem.
Too bad that ohio had to ruin yet another classy tradition by Michigan which allowed the visiting team (including ohio) to come out in the middle of the field.
Nowadays, the ohio (salvation army) band drag their feet on the field while doing their spelling test, leaving a track where the "script" was.
At least they remembered how to spell it after Michigan taught them ..."in order to lead America you must love America"
