  • LOL @ Hack. There's a great picture of the hit, too. He got thumped. A little too much exhuberance from Perkins.

In other football news, Kyle Berger has committed. Chalk that up as totally unsurprising.

And random, untimely predictions, Noah Spence to be 1st-team All B10.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
    Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

I don't crave your attention, sir. I can post here just fine with or without your presence.

If I'm gonna watch OSU v. Michigan twice next season, it would be much appreciated that that homely SOB is sportin' a healthy hue on sidelines.

                          • As we near the end of a spring ball, I thought I'd offer an update on Coach UFM's dominant Buckeyes:

QB: Nothing much to report. Miller is a Heisman candidate. They are getting more comfortable with Cardale Jones as the 3rd QB. That may allow them some recruiting flexibility.

RB: Stable. Hyde is a big back that started to see the field as the season wore on. Rod Smith is probably more talented than Hyde, but lacks the consistency. They love Dunn and Ball. Either one could get significant carries and they wouldn't drop off. And Ezekiel Elliot comes in the summer.

PH: It seems we're constantly on a quest for the next "Percy Harvin" for UFM's offense. So, I'll refer to the hybrid RB/Slot guy as the PH! Jordan Hall is back. He's probably the most dynamic talent of the upperclassmen. But, we still really haven't see what he can do in UFM's offense. Last season, when he wasn't hurt, he had to play RB, but mostly, he was hurt. Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson are also going to see time here. And those guys are elite -- young, but elite.

WR: Still not an area of strength. Devin Smith and Corey Brown were ok last year. Brown, in particular, started coming into his own a bit. They brought in a JC WR (Corey Smith), who I expect to see the field. And Michael Thomas had another good spring. But whether that translates into fall playing time remains to be seen. Marshall and Wilson also bolster this position along with James Clark.

OL: 4 starters are back from what was the B10's best OL, IMO. The 5th starter is a battle between Taylor Decker and Chase Farris. Decker, I think, will end up starting. Depth is thin. Farris provides credible depth and Eflein and Boren do, too, but those guys are young. An injury would be problematic here.

TE: No worries. Heuerman and Vannett are a great combo. I also expect Marcus Baugh to see the field as a true freshman. He may not be "B10 Ready", yet, but he's a matchup nightmare in a season.

Offensive Summary: Should be significantly better than last season. As UFM injects the type of players he wants for his offense, it will be more and more dynamic. TBH, with the state of the QB and WR play when UFM took over, it's nothing short of a miracle that they were as good on offense as they were. They saved Miller's career. He's only going to get better and better. And they even were able to squeeze occasional good WR play from a group that's not overly, uh, "dynamic". OL is both a strength and achilles heel. It's a great set of starters. They're an injury or 2 away from being thoroughly average.

DL: Thin, but the starters they do have are really good. Noah Spence is a 1st Round NFL draft pick barring injury. OSU hasn't had an edge rusher like him since Will Smith, and may end up being better than Smith. Adolphus Washington is really good as a DT or SDE. Michael Bennett also showed a lot last season. JT Moore, Tommy Schutt and maybe Steve Miller round out the rotation as of now. Jamal Marcus may also see time if he can learn the WDE position. I also expect at least one frosh to see significant time (Bosa, Lewis and Sprinkle).

LB: Hmmmm. Well, Shazier is stud. Wooot. Curtis Grant has all the talent the world, but it would appear he has no natural LB instincts/game has yet to slow down for him. He has another shot to prove to UFM that he do the job. I think Josh Perry will see a lot of time, too. It's hard to say who else fits into the rotation -- but someone will. It's not a position of strength, but the talent is there -- it's mostly just young.

DB: Position of strength. Roby, Barnett and Bryant are back. Doran Grant is ready to take the next step. Eli Apple has superstar written all over him and will likely play -- a lot. Bogard, Murray, Reeves...and others. Love the secondary.

Defensive Summary: While the DL lost the most, the LBs remain the biggest area of concern. The young pups on the DL have shown they're ready. The LBs, though, still a question mark. The upside is that against spread teams, a LB comes off the field and they can use more secondary players. If it's just Shazier + X as the LBs, that's fine. There's also probably a DL concern against power teams. They had really good interior play DL play last season, and that will drop off a bit.

                            Recruiting:

7 commits to date. Mostly, this is an exercise in building OL and LB depth. 2014, in particular, could be a hugely trying time for the OL. UFM has been pushing a couple JC guys on that front, which ought to tell you what he thinks about the overall talent of the backups. LB is also a huge depth issue.

OL: Jones, Trout are committed. They'll probably take 2 more, with at least one being a JC player. I have ideas of who those guys may be, but not strong ones. Jamarco Jones, Sam Mustipher and Alex Bookser are HS guys who could be in the class. Chad Mavesty is a JC guy who could be in the class. Oh, they're also in on Knox. If Texas blows up this season and Mack leaves or something like that, UFM will scavenge Knox from that class just like he did with Wilson and Oregon.

LB: Berger, Hubbard are committed. Hubbard, though, is versatile that he could end up as a WDE or play the Star position. Raekwon McMillan, Clifton Garret and Donte Booker are their 3 big targets, with Booker possibly ending up a WDE. I like OSU's chances to get all 3.

                            Other positions:

QB: DeShaun Watson. This is their guy. Unfortunately, he's verballed to Clemson at the moment. As UFM says, though, that just means Clemson is in his top 3. He speaks highly of OSU and wants to visit and, heh, has them in his top 3. He's an f'n stud. This is where Cardale Jones comes in. If they comfortable with Jones, they may feel comfortable pushing for Watson until the end instead of, say, going Plan B and taking Drew Barker. That's UFM's MO anyway, though. He's not too much into settling for Plan B players if there's still a chance with Plan A.

RB: Paris Campbell is their guy.

WR: Marshon Lattimore will be in. They have a great shot at Demare Kitt. They're certainly in on Drake Harris, too. It will be interesting to see how that recruitment plays out. I get the sense that once he actually leaves the state of Michigan for a visit, it's game on (and Sparty is forever eliminated). Derek Kief is probably their likely 3rd WR.

DL: Dylan Thompson is in. Not sure where they stand in this area. Chasing some big names, but I don't get the sense this is an area of priority.

DB: Webb is in. They're in the hunt with Peppers, and he's worth pursuing, but he probably ends up at M or Stanford. They seem to like Erick Smith better than Montae Nicholson, at least for now. He's probably the only name I can say will likely be in the class.

So, IMO, the guys not yet committed that will likely be in the class (in order of confidence):

                            8. Marshon Lattimore
                            9. Erick Smith
                            10. Dante Booker
                            11. Raekwon McMillan
                            12. Clifton Garrett
                            13. Demare Kitt

After that, who knows. Having watched a full recruiting season for UFM, I'm certain guys will pop up out of nowhere. And I'm reasonably sure UFM will close strong. Good times.

                            • More fantasy crap, sorry but playing only 12 of 14 games does not an undefeated season make.

The hubris of these assclowns, essentially criminally-sanctioned, ineligible to participate with law-abiding teams for postseason play, only 85.7% of the actual season but don't let facts and truth stand in your way, dream on. Saban must be laughing his ass off.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Urban Meyer had promised his team rings for their undefeated 2012 season, even though the Buckeyes didn't win a Big Ten title or a national title while banned from the postseason because of previous NCAA violations.

                              The rings are in.

Here's what a real season of monumental achievement looks like.
