Incidentally, if you intermingle born and "ran from", it is 8 with WH Harrison. 7 born and 6 ran-froms. Ben Harrison ran from Indiana and Grant from Illinois.

There's no earthly reason for a coach that's never won a conference title to be on that list with THOSE coaches other than conditionally. I realize you think Hoke is every bit as a good as Saban. But, then again, you're insane.

Saban isn't from Ohio but he played at Kent State and coached at Kent, Toledo, OSU, and the Browns.

BTW, I did the research a while back and not just Bo, but nearly Bo's entire original staff was from Ohio, brought straight from Miami with him.

I considered "Ohio connections", DSL, but that's a bit too hard to define. Saban definitely has them, though. The Harbaughs are the only two that don't have strong Ohio connections. I think they spent 8 or 9 years in Ohio before moving. The rest are pretty much Ohio born and bred.

Don James is a guy who is definitely overlooked, especially in the Midwest. But he is/was a legend in Seattle.
