  • Michigan is going to a bowl game because they are a team that deserves a post season berth, and they earned it.

They'll probably get beat. So what? If Penn State and OlieO was doing the things that they were supposed to be doing, the conference would probably be more fairly matched up with like opponents in our bowl slots. Instead, the rest of the league has to clean up the mess left behind by the "flagship" and their cheating, and Penn State for their lack of institutional control/supervision. We'll probably get our butts beat because we shouldn't be playing a 1 or 2 loss team in a bowl game.

Thanks OlieO and Penn State, .. for letting the conference down.

    That being said,...

Michigan should use the extra bowl practices to get snaps/reps for the new kids that they'll be counting on next year. Devin Gardner should get 90% of the snaps in the bowl game practices.

Ironic and telling that Saint Jim was honored at today's game at the snake pit. Here is a man, whose dishonesty directly led to the CURRENT UNDEFEATED TEAM being denied BCS consideration, which they earned on the field ... yet the cheater was being honored. If that doesn't say everything you need to know about the mindset in the state of ohio, I don't know what else you need. "He beat Michigan". That's all that counts.

    Telling.

And while Michigan may only have a "moral" victory in the upcoming bowl game, you guys don't even get that. Instead, you get to explain to this undefeated OlieO team why they have to sit at home, and teams with 4 losses are playing in a bowl game.

"BECAUSE ITS MORE IMPORTANT THAT WE BEAT MICHIGAN AT ALL COSTS"

Yea... they'll buy that .... it'll be something they can share with their grandchildren....

      • He paid a lot of underprivileged kids. It's true.

He might have done good. But hes also a liar and a cheat. I guess the ends justify the means though. The "ends" is beating Michigan of course.

And you're blind if you think the sins were limited to "some unreported emails." He was dirty as fuck at YSU, and it continued throughout his entire tenure at osu.

Don't insult everyone's intelligence here by painting him in some positive light; he'll be viewed outside of columbus for exactly what he is -- a fraud.

            • Equating what Jim Tressel did with mere "unreported emails" is like saying Nixon was "only curious" about what Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist's records said ....

Just own it, and demand better from the school you support with your money and loyalty. You deserve that much from them. Demand better, and don't settle for shortcuts.

              • I knew it wouldn't take M fans long to get back to bread and butter once ORDER was RESTORED. So, M fans carry on about what an evil man Coach Tressel is and how corrupt OSU is (and, for that matter, everyone else in CFB -- but them). And for the FLAGSHIP's part, they'll keep kicking the fuck out of you bitches and owning the conference.

So, so, so smug. It's good to be king.

                • As for the 2012 team, they clearly maxed out. UFM and staff did a brilliant job of switching to entirely different offense and making it work. Coach Fickell started to get a better feel for the defense and there was some real improvement. Dominating M in the 2nd half (without the heart and soul of the team) was a great way to finish.

But more importantly, he got kids to buy-in to his program. And that wasn't an easy thing to do. I know it won't be his most talented team, by a longshot. He'll get his players in fairly soon and the talent level will off the charts. But those guys may be one of his favorite teams. To come from where they were to finish 12-0, own the B10, put M back in to its place and basically sail the FLAGSHIP once again -- after a year in port -- that's a great season.

Finally, kudos to Liney. I thought you were just funning about OSU never losing under UFM. Good call on your part.

                  • Really weak schedule; they didn't face no ND, no Bama, incredibly if not all-time weak B10.

                    • Yep. And the schedule is almost as easy next season. Road game at Cal instead of home, and replace with UNL and MSU with Iowa and nFw. Add in gads of returning starters, the hype around Braxton and, of course, UFM and it's pretty easy to see what's coming in 2013. I'll let other rationalize it all, but 12-0 is 12-0 and 2013 looks EXTREMELY promising. They'll obviously be preseason top 5 and then it's just a matter beating up tomato cans.

                          • Thread from mgoblog makes it sound like the horror stories in Columbus are much overblown

I made my first trip to Columbus for The Game today. After reading all of the horror stories I was prepared for the worst. We tailgated at the Ackerman Lot which is about a mile and a half from the stadium. During the tailgate and walk to the stadium we experienced people cussing at us and giving us the finger but no physical violence. The thing that surprised me the most was that for every idiot their were five Ohio fans telling us to " have a great time" and apologizing on behalf of the idiots. Is their a higher percentage of idiots down there? Yes. Did I fear for my safety? No. Did the intensity of the fans negatively effect my enjoyment of the day? Absolutely not! I'm not saying that others will be as lucky as I was or that previous horror stories were embellished. I'm just suggesting to anyone out their that doesn't think Columbus is worth the risk based on someone else's experience, you may be missing out on the best away game in the Big Ten. If you went to The Game today, let me know how it went.

                            • Good weekend for recruiting. Won't really get into the 2014 stuff, but 2013-wise, very good weekend for Trey Johnson (LB) and James Quick.

December 7th is a huge weekend, too, with Mike Mitchell finally visiting. Mitchell and Johnson would be a super LB class in an area of need -- along with Chris Worley.

                              • B10 All-Conference teams being announced. On offense, the Press picks Braxton and Norwell, the coaches, amazingly enough, pick zero Buckeyes for the first team. Hmmmm.

Anyway, Braxton wins the coveted Greasy-Breeze QB of the Year Award. And on that note, Delaney and take his contrived bullshit and go fuck himself.
