LOL. Right. FYI, in the 40 years since Bo was hired, OSU had a better winning percentage. M's status as "most winningnest' is on the back of Yost. And Bo won ZERO national titles. And Bo PLAYED for ZERO national titles.
But the point Martin was making isn't "most successful" hire. If that was the case, it's Woody, hands down.
The point was "most important."
1. UFM is the biggest rockstar hiring in the B10 at least that I can recall. Woody and Bo, while hugely successful, weren't rockstar hires.
2. Ohio State is the most prominent football program in the conference. Flagship. For M fans out there who can't admit that to themselves, "co-Flagship" if you want, but the point still stands easily.
3. The B10 is, hopefully, at the bottom of a god-awful 4-5 year slide culminating in the last two years of monkey feces.
4. And now the biggest rockstar hire is at the biggest program and everyone is watching.
Frankly, one could argue that every hire M and OSU make are the equally big for the conference. But given the huge name value of UFM and the current state of the B10, I think it eminently reasonably to say what Martin said. Worry not, boys, UFM will restore the B10's pride.
