  • Indeed. Both lack the architectural subtleties of digging a giant fucking hole.

    • Elegant. Clean lines. Up here we know not to outsmart ourselves. If we're not trying that, you people at Clown State definitely shouldn't.

      • Eh, M copied Yale and OSU copied Harvard. Now, OSU improved vastly upon Harvard's design and came up with what some would call the 8th wonder of the world. M more or less just outright copied Yale -- until they added the brilliant halo.

But, meh, stadium smack is near the bottom of the barrel.

In 2008, Urban Meyer 's Florida team went 13-1, averaged over 43 points a game while giving up about 13, featured a reigning Heisman winner at quarterback, won the SEC and won the BCS national championship with a 24-14 victory over Oklahoma...

Pfft. Playing a cream puff schedule and inheriting a roster that is massively loaded with 5* and 4* players, including the insanely talented, #1 dual threat QB the year that he came out of high school, who just happens to perfectly fit his offense. Not to mention, a redshirt junior QB who also fits the offense, without whom you lose the Purdue game, and possibly the MSU game. And doing this at a time when the rest of the conference is probably at a historical low. No coach since Larry Coker has inherited an easier situation that that one.

                      • All that matters is that DR is kept healthy enough to deliver justice come November 24th, coach Hog, that means NO punt returns.

All of that may be true, with the exception of the Larry Coker bit. That said, nearly all of that was true last season. And they stunk in a stank-ass B10. Ok, so it wasn't quite as bad. But I think UFM and his staff have done some very good things. Braxton is Braxton. As you noted, it's a perfect fit. But he did a lot to get Guiton turned around. Warriner has done a really good job with the OL, an OL that was perceived by many, especially on this forum, to be a liability. Jury is still out on the other side of the ball.

Anyway, this team is better than I thought they'd be. Granted, in 1999 maybe they go 8-4. By the same token, in 2004 or 2007 they're probably in roughly the same position.

In any event, it seems OP's prophecy is coming true.

                          • If you're gonna beat us, oblitera Al Borges' freakin offense please to the point where Hoke can't keep him. But, not this year. You're goin down this year.

                            • I'll give you the OL. That could have been a massive fiasco with a converted tight end playing tackle. Other than that though -- eh. Jury's out. OSU has had the good fortune of having their worst games come against their weakest competition (UAB, Purdue, Indiana). Or is that just good coaching/gamesmanship? If you play like dogshit in half of your games, but you win because those games are against your worst competition, are you lucky or are you well coached because you get the job done when it counts?

And when it comes to his pure running ability, Braxton is a once-a-generation QB. Stick Urban Meyer with a Steven Threet or a Nick Sheridan and see what he does.

                              • OSU's been lucky to escape several of those games. Very much similar to how Michigan was better than their W-L last year. Michigan last year was among the most lucky, least good, 2-win teams I've seen. Amazing that they should have been actually a 1-loss team given that Iowa crap. THANKS, AL BORGES!
