Meanwhile M is appropriately muddled around Cincinnati and Ohio. Man, I wonder if Ohio would like a shot at taking M down in football, too.
7-0? 11-0? ..... makes little difference in the CFB world of the forgotten.
Prominently missing from the first BCS rankings. The shame.
Every osu accomplishment in 2011 with an asterisk by it......
.... just like the tressel era.
ON PROBATION.
CHEATERS.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
Hard to disagree. When you're the Flagship and the Main Event, well, everything you do is prominent.
Every osu accomplishment in 2011 with an asterisk
That's true. That massively anomalous OSU season is definitely worth an asterisk -- to remind everyone how much of an outlier 2011 was. I mean, for F's sake, they even lost to M.
Anyway, after an one-season blip -- as you note, an asterisk-type season -- Ohio State is back in its rightful postion as the Flagship. And Coach Hoke has M in a good spot -- right in between Cincinnati and Ohio and in decent position to win his first ever title of any kind as head coach. I think M has a decent shot of laying claim to 2nd Best Team in the B10, for whatever that's worth.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
Ohio boy Jake Ryan is the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. One good recruit from Rich Rod era. I don't recall osu offering him a scholarship. He's like our Clay Matthews.
I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.
Didn't offer. Good player from a good program. OSU took the other LB on that team who has sadly spent his entire career injured.
On to other things...
While the UFM Era is likely doomed to fail because he doesn't care about defense, it is fun to look at the offense.
Last year, OSU scored 38 TDs in 13 games. This year, OSU has scored 35 TDs in 7 games.
Last year, OSU's leading receiver had 14 receptions and 240 yards. This year, OSU's leading receiver has 41 receptions and the leading yardage receiver is at 450 yards (and could have 550 if he could catch the f'n ball).
Last year Braxton Miller rushed for 100 yards three times. This year Braxton Miller has rushed for 100 yards 5 times, with each being higher than any performance last year.
Last year Braxton Miller had one run of more than 55 yards. This year, Braxton Miller has had at least one run of 55 or more yards in 4 of the 7 games they've played.
So, while all is apparently lost, I at least have the pleasure of watching Braxton Miller play the next two seasons and try to score the 70 a game OSU will need to win.

Jake Ryan is one of those kids that a lot of people overlooked, and we have the good fortune of having him in our uniform.
As for our conference's flagship, I'd say that they will spend most of this season pumping out massive amounts of bilge water before they finally get to a point where they can right the ship, and be presentable again.
Sad when the flagship had to court-martial its admiral, and send him off to catalog game films for a middling NFL team ...
But hey, ... I've heard the new admiral comes from just outside the everglades, and has all sorts of top-secret plans for world domination. His heisman candidates are absolutely unbeatable ....
Hoke and Mattison looked at Ryan at SDSU and they didn't even think that he was worthy of an offer there. He's just one of those guys who comes around once every four or five years who explodes out of nowhere, and who the coach can't really take credit for discovering.
First of those that we have had since -- David Harris?
The comments were specific. UFM, like RichGOD, doesn't care about defense and will likely meet the same end. It was left unsaid that RichGOD was a failure. I implued that RichGOD was a failure. Perhaps you disagree. I don't know.
History is no indicator of results in the now. I don't give a shit about meyer's past accomplishments. His current osu defense is stinking it up. You know this, you can't hide from it. Hell, even RichyRod had some fast starts but good God, the flame outs were horrendous.
Yours are coming.
and don't tell me you don't see the similarities between RichRod's M teams and urban f'ing meyers osu teams. Neither of them could play defense worth a shit.
You're deluding yourself with your optimism about meyer. He is fundamentally a spread offense guy
Keep in mind, we all agree the Big Ten is pretty weak but having osu's D struggle against its perennial bottom dwellers like IU while watching M's D absolutely stifle, like they should, the offenses of Purdue and Illinois, brings a lot of joy to my aged heart. Rodriguez proved he cold never do that, losing to Purdue on a regular basis and allowing Illinois drive the play involving Michigan in one of the highest scoring games in its history. Defense? Rodriguez didn't have a clue. Based on ufm's result on that side of the ball to date it looks like he may not either.
Like my knowledgeable son said after osu's first game this season, "the similarities between what went down at M with Rodriguez and what is going down at osu with ufm, are striking."
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
I still see nothing there that says UM doesn't care about defense, just that his defense so far has been poor and similar to RichRod's.
I think there was some needling of you (which you took the bait for) that RichRod and UM were similar ... but I don't see that statement coming out of this.
I think this is some "lawyering" of the actual truth, but oh well, I don't care. I'll drop it.
he has seemingly allowed Fickle to f*** things up on that side of the ball, one has to wonder if he's not exactly like Rodriguez ..... "here, you handle this. I'm too busy handling this flashy offense."
So, UFM, like RichGOD, appears to not have a "clue" about defense, seemingly is "too busy handling his flashy offense" and will suffer a "flameout" akin to what happend to RichGOD. I don't know how I could have possibly distilled that into what I did. Crazy.
Of course, it's 100% flame. Obviously. No one is that stupid. But all I want is a record, PB. If someone is going to make ludicrous predictions, I want it on record, flame or otherwise. Because I'll sure enjoy serving up that shit sandwich.
I understand flaming and such -- it's mostly based on past, concrete facts. You're on probation, ha ha. You've lost 9 out of 10, ha ha. UFM is a quitter, ha ha. Hoke hasn't won shit, ha ha. Moving into -- UFM is just RichGOD all over, well, heh, that's a future prediction. I like to have those in print, so to speak. Heh heh heh.

Flame? Stupid? I don't know. It could be brilliant. I think it is.
That post certainly has your attention. Don't think I've ever been quoted so often.
Anywho .... it works both ways. One of us here is going to be serving up a big bowl of dick on November 23rd.
Based on the decent smack floating around here, the pre-game rivalry is the best its been in a decade or so. I'm enjoying it even though its way early.
