Incidentally, I must be terrible at looking video replays because I couldn't understand a couple of them last night. I'm not sure, e.g., how Bryant's interception was overturned (sidebar--great defensive play Barnett the play before breaking up Roby's Pick6!).

Let me clarify, there are two, maybe three SEC teams that play power football behind stout defenses and that is because they can and do recruit to that style of play. The rest can't and don't so, they light it up not really giving a shit about whether their defenses can stop an opponent from scoring a lot of points. All you have to do in this sort of game is have a flashy, big play offense or a game stealing QB that can score more points than the opponent, usually a lot more. 52-49 ...... sound familiar?
Let's count. osu's D has given up 172 points in 7 games, 87 in the last two. Is that a record? Why yes, I believe it is. Rodriguez had a lot of those kinds of records while he was at M. He still managed to hang on to a lot of deluded supporters in his early games at M that didn't care. I was among them. You and Strange are among meyer's deluded supporters. osu will meet its Hector ..... or Achilles or Paris ..... whoever the greatest warrior of the day might be.
..... and don't tell me you don't see the similarities between RichRod's M teams and urban f'ing meyers osu teams. Neither of them could play defense worth a shit. Rodriguez didn't seem to care and it was pretty clear his buddies couldn't bail his ass out while he spent all his time with the offense. Fickle looks to be in the same boat. Who the f*** is minding the store on defense? You have to be asking yourself that.
You can't play shitty defense and win championships in the Big. You can't do that and win SEC Championships either. Teams like LSU and Alabama do win the SEC Championship and do compete for the MNC. They play defense and I'm not telling you anything you don't know. You shoved that message down our throats for three years, now, despite you knowing perfectly well the truth of it, I'm going to shove it down yours. Defense. Play it.
You're deluding yourself with your optimism about meyer. He is fundamentally a spread offense guy; I can't say with any authority he is as bad as Rodriguez was about the importance of defense, I tend to think he is not, but that he has seemingly allowed Fickle to f*** things up on that side of the ball, one has to wonder if he's not exactly like Rodriguez ..... "here, you handle this. I'm too busy handling this flashy offense."
Anyway enjoy your nail biting games ..... like against the Hoosiers for God's sake ......going forward. Hector, or someone like him, is on the way.Last edited by Jeff Buchanan; October 14, 2012, 08:32 AM.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. UFM has won 2 BCS titles. Hoke has won zero titles of any kind. M has won only 1 national title in the past 60+ seasons. But I'm supposed to throw in the towel because OSU played a shit 4th quarter on defense en route to going 7-0?
Heh. I think I understated the idiocy.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Incidentally, UFM has already won 7 games. Next week he matches RichGod's win total for his first two years. Lol.

How many times have we had that thrown in our faces over the last 8 years by you two weasels.
History is no indicator of results in the now. I don't give a shit about meyer's past accomplishments. His current osu defense is stinking it up. You know this, you can't hide from it. Hell, even RichyRod had some fast starts but good God, the flame outs were horrendous.
Yours are coming.

Heh heh. You can't win the SEC or BCS playing bad defense. UFM is fundamentally a spread guy who doesn't care about defense. And don't you dare look to the immediate past. LOL.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

I would imagine that the good folks in Columbus this morning are not real happy with the idea that their defense gave up 40+ points to lowly Indiana. And if you guys gave up 40+ to them .....
And, WRT Strangelove's comment about our victories over Purdue and Illinois, I don't think any of us are predicting the lofty future accomplishments that you folks are from your boys. Pope Urban has a honeymoon year this season in Columbus, and will be allowed to stink it up a bit, whilst the faithful deflect the results on a couple sub standard Tressel recruiting years, and subsequent tat-gate. Next year, the rabble in Columbus will be expecting MNC contention, ... and it still may not be there.
As I wax "Mr Obvious" for a moment, .. B1G football this year is about as unpredictable as I've ever seen it. I don't think any team can be sure about anything.Last edited by lineygoblue; October 14, 2012, 02:24 PM."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, ..
