  • Troy Smith received $500 from a booster. He was suspended for our bowl game (Justin Zwick started) and did not start the first two games in 2005 (which included the huge game against Texas).

That concludes the long list of allegations and unpunished crimes of Troy Smith. What a cheater, that Tressel!

    • "Many"

And it was less than 500.

      • Need more? From the hometown paper of osu:

        http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...0-YX3g&cad=rja

And from a Cleveland.com blog, some excerpts regarding Troy Smith:

November 16, 2003: Ohio State wide receiver Santonio Holmes and quarterback Troy Smith are arrested six days before the Michigan game on charges of misdemeanor disorderly conduct after a fight on campus in the early morning hours following Ohio State's win over Purdue. Holmes is held out of the starting lineup against Michigan, but plays the majority of the game and catches two touchdowns.

        and

July 20, 2005: Ohio State athletic officials investigate a possible second NCAA rules violation by quarterback Troy Smith. Smith attended a quarterbacks camp run by Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair, but because Ohio State runs on quarters instead of semesters, Smith may have missed class to attend, which would be an NCAA violation. Jim Tressel declines comment, saying the university's compliance department has not finished its inquiry.

Admittedly, small stuff compared to the saga of Mo Clarett, but who is ignorant enough to believe that Troy Smith was completely clean otherwise---the old "tip-of-the-iceberg" theory kind of stuff...

$500 from a booster for so-called "employment". Go on believing that's all there was, once you look at the many many instances of that kind of stuff and more over a loong period of time in Columbus, especially during the reign of The Senator" since the turn of the century.

        • Barry Switzer and Jimmy Johnson are in the college HOF. Just sayin
I would think that you guys would NOT want Coach Tressel to be equated with these two idiots ... but if you insist ...

            • Another excerpt from the Columbus Dispatch (more on the fight Smith was involved in and the outcome of the court case):

              • Nov. 16, 2003: At 3 a.m. after a win over Purdue and six days before the Michigan game, wide receiver Santonio Holmes and quarterback Troy Smith are charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct after a fight in a parking lot on campus. A window in a car is kicked out and one woman reported her jaw was broken. Holmes is held out of the starting lineup at Michigan but returns to play most of the game. Holmes also started in the Buckeyes' Fiesta Bowl game. He pleads innocent to the disorderly conduct after the team returns to Columbus. The disorderly conduct charge is dismissed against Holmes on March 30, 2004. Smith is found guilty of the charge.
I haven't been able to find anything on who was responsible for the woman's broken jaw...draw your own conclusions, though, since charges are dismissed on Holmes but not on Smith

                      • The desperation of Talent grows exponentially each time he feels the necessity to capitalize "fear". Right now, it's at the level of, "The River might catch fire", barely passing, "Ohio: Our stupidity isn't near as bad as Kentucky", and hoping to attain, "Hey! I got laid at an SMU game in 1986!"

Beware anything to do with "getting laid" and "SMU". Just ask Craig James, who allegedly killed 5 hookers while playing football there, allegedly after getting laid...
