  • Which sounds better than "Go apply for a job somewhere else". At least this way Fickell gets exposure to a different defense and the chance to work on a resume that isn't exclusively linked to Tressell. I am touched by the concern for Ohio coaches shown here.

    • I always defer to M faithful for their understanding of the OSU staff. Always.

      • Gene Smith, 455 days or so Post-Tressel Scandal making him the Ultimate Survivor of BuckNut Island!

Fickell finally read the "lay of the land" at OSU and found the common sense to interview for the Pitt Head Coaching job, unfortunately for him they hired someone else, keeping him Meyer's staff. But don't worry, although demoted to DC status again, you will be able to tell him apart from Meyer's other newly hired co-Defensive Coordinator, Everett Withers......Fickell will be the one wearing the hat.

        • To actual information:

It's being reported that Ed Warinner (ND OL coach) will be OSU's new OL coach. Very good news. Really like his experience. Also, with Warinner and Hinton coming, I think OSU has a shot at Taylor Decker, who is, IMO, the 2nd best OL in the state. That'd be a huge get.

Ah, just 60 more minutes of this miserable season. Can't wait for it to end. A great day. And then on to a remarkably great future with, by far and away, the best football/hoops coach combo in the nation. Pure awesome.
Yes, on to your exhibition season in football next year. Enjoy an entire season of meaningless games. Should have been at least 2 years, but OSU officials lied their way out of that. Lying is what they are best at.

            • Also, 247 has come out with their initial take on the 2013 class. Of note, the following are being recruiting by OSU and have varying degrees of interest. Certainly, Smith, Marshall, Price and Burrows are IN and Zaire and Woodward are almost certainly in, too, if UFM wants them.

Jalyn Smith, Number 1 OLB, #4 Overall
Jalin Marshall , Number 1 Athlete, #5 Overall
Robert Foster , Number 1 WR, Number 14 Overall.
Vernon Hargreaves lll , Number 1CB, Number 19 Overall.
Jake Raulerson, Number 6 OT, Number 24 Overall.
Henry Poggi, Number 4DT, Number 25 Overall.
Ty Issac, Number 4 RB, Number 28 Overall.
Cameron Burrows, Number 2 CB, Number 30 Overall.
Adam Breneman, Number 1 TE, Number 32 Overall.
Joey Bosa, Number 2 SDE, Number 34 Overall
Dymonte Thomas, Number 5 RB & S, Number 36 Overall.
Jonathan Allen, Number 1 WDE, Number 44 Overall.
Malik Zaire, Number 2 Dual QB, Number 49 Overall.
Billy Price, Numbet 10 OT, Number 54 Overall.
Tim Kimbrough, Number 3 ILB, Number 64 Overall.
Derrick Green, Number 12 RB, Number 91 Overall
Eli Woodard, Number 4CB, Number 94 Overall
Aregeros Turner, Number 15 RB, Number 108 Overall.
Lovell Peterson, Number 2 C, Number 180 Overall
Michael McCray, Number 16 OLB, Number 199 Overall.
Shelton Gibson, Number 27 WR, Number 207 Overall.
Evan Lisle, Number 25 OT, Number 215 Overall.

              Summary:

6 Number 1 Ranked players at their position.
4 Number 2 Ranked players at their position.
17 Top 10 in country by position.
              17 Top 100 in country.

Ohio State WILL have the best recruiting class it has ever had in 2013. 3 top 30 players in the bag and 5 top 55 players more or less in the bag. Already.

              • Meyer is certainly free to "toy" with his staff as it so pleases but make no mistake, Fickell is trying to get the hell out.....just the stubborn facts.

AD remains on staff, "outwitting, outlasting & outplaying" Columbus' finest.

                • The Florida Gator team that went 6-6 under Meyer was highly-touted too, top-3 if memory serves, one of Meyer's best as I seem to recall.

Traditional Powerhouses will always recruit well, it's coaching that makes the difference.

                  • More subterfuge, Stoops appears not to be joining his brother after all. Looks like Mike Stoops, stooped Meyer.

                    • I was driving back from Chicago in miserable weather (South Bend/Elkhart are getting pounded with snow) so I missed the entire game today but it doesn't sound like I missed much. Shitty game between two shitty teams.

                      • Agreed - but the osu Bleeding Hemorrhoids let me down for 15 points. They should have crushed Florida but their offensive line showed tremendous suckitude. I didn't count on what a loss Stoneburner was. I hope the maggots finish 2012 the same way they started it!

I'll go by your word since I didn't see any of it, but his stat line wasn't bad 18-23, 2 TDs, no INTs

We lost primarily because Florida got 2 special teams touchdowns. Otherwise their offense was possibly even crappier than ours. Who knew Florida could play Beamer Ball?!?!

                            • DSL ... he was very accurate on some very short throws. The bigger plays that could have won it for Ohio ... another story.

                              • Yeah, pb, he is what he is at the moment. Downfield accuracy, as M fans surely remember, is not his strength at the moment. He will improve.
