The easiest thing to do would be for them to self-impose their post season ban this year. The NCAA will probably accept that, and delete it from any other sanctions they are considering. After all, the worst that OlieO would be giving up would be what... the Music City Bowl?
It would be a smart business move for them to self impose this year.

Declining a Bowl invitation is guaranteeing you don't have a losing season.
That's part of it. It's also an awkward situation. UM3 will be putting together his staff, some of whom will be coaching bowl games themselves. So, who coaches the team? The lame duck staff? While UM3 is out recruiting? Meh. I'm indifferent, to be honest. I think the powers-that-be are ready to turn the page. If they had won today, it'd be a little different.
As for the NCAA, postseason bans don't carry over if you're not eligible for a bowl. They've always been purely about time. If the NCAA does hit OSU with 1 year, and they do it before the bowls, it would count to this year. I consider that very unlikely, but that's the way it works.

Article in today's paper says that osu will NOT decline a bowl bid. Lets pray to God that its the Pizza Bowl that extends an invite. Michigan fans could pack Ford Field (good for the local economy) and issue a well deserved, nationally televised taunting of the nation's most dispictable football program.

This is actually a great idea for a BORG gathering. Meet early and park near Chelio's Chili Bar ...do some tailgating... razz some OlieO fans in the process ... go to the game, ..leave early ... then head down to Greektown to some great eats at Pegasus, and maybe rolling the bones at the craps tables at the Casino ...
hmmmmmm.....

At 6-6? I guess. They invited us at 7-5. At some point, bowls will learn that nobody else wants to watch mediocre trams compete even if they put butts in the seats, especially in the era of TV money flowing like cum from a pornstar's dick.

I understand y'all don't care too much for NCAA rules, but you can only have one coach.

You shouldn't be so eager to wish for the departure of Gene Smith. He was the one who mysteriously stopped doing written evaluations of Tressel after the previous AD gave him an "unsatisfactory" compliance rating. With the next guy, you run the risk that he will make a good faith effort to force Urban to run a clean program.
Ah, Hanni, nothing you can say will ruin this glorious moment for me. It's been a long, horrendous 8 months culminating with the darkest day of them all -- the end of the 2926 straight days. But dawn is upon us.
So many things to be excited about -- to see how UM3 can finish out the 2012 class (probably marginally); to see who the staff is; to see how many early commits for 2013 come aboard (at least 2 5* kids right out the gate + Billy Price, heh, of course).
A glorious day -- though one we all knew was coming. And the gnashing of teeth from M faithful is the little sprinkle of sugar on top. I love it.
