Name a single coach that sat out a year and came back to be successful. Bud Wilkinson tried and couldn't do it. (For those who have no clue as who he was, he has the longest unbeaten streak in college football while the coach at Oklahoma). Granted he was out of the game for quite a long time. I think of coaches like Ara and Lou who left the game while very successful and never returned. The pressure to produce must be tremendous and at a level that none of us have to compete.I guess Meyer could do it but there's one or more reasons why he retired.
So am I. This Buckeye offense looks competent for the most part, and Nebraska looks like a team that got blown out last week and hasn't gotten over it yet.
I know this will sound as if I'm trying to take something away from Ohio State's remarkable improvement over last week, and I don't actually mean to do that, but I have to wonder how much Taylor Martinez really wants to play for Bo Pelini. That kid started off hot last year, but since he got hurt midway through last season, and especially since the sideline incident with Pelini against Texas A&M(IIRC), he's never looked like the same player. He just exhibits this weird combination of fear and resignation.
