  • Its not the NFL's fault that Pryor is not in school anymore. Its not even osu's fault that Pryor is not in school anymore. He dropped out of school. Kids do that all the time. I don't see why the NFL should make a special exception for a college dropout.

If Pryor wanted to drop out of school and go to the NFL, there is a process in place for him to do that. But, as his college career has proven, he does not believe that any set process applies to him, nor do any rules apply to him either. Pryor cares about Pryor. Fact proven.

I hope he has to sit on his duff and wait another year before he can go to the NFL. Serves him right.

    • I don't particularly wish him any ill will. And even if I did, I think it's fairly obvious he's getting the screws put to him. Hopefully it'll resolve itself favorably for him.

You must be kidding, why do you hate the taxpayers of Ohio and possibly Jesus too?

Pryor (while on athletic scholarship) stole thousands of dollars in equipment from the University and sold these items for personal gain, FULL STOP. Let me ask you simply what would happen to a Computing Science student on academic scholarship that was caught stealing laptops from the school and selling them on Ebay? Or the Music student on scholarship that fences band equipment? A criminal investigation would ensue, formal charges, expulsion from the University, loss of scholarship and likely restitution being ordered upon conviction....but not for Pryor. Not only has Gee, Smith & Tressel continue to turn a blind-eye to the whole scandal, they now want to further assist an individual that is no longer a student at OSU and has arguably caused incredible embarrassment and future hardship for his teammates and the institution at large at a cost of millions of dollars. Why let these assclowns game the system further? Look, I am in favor of "turning the other cheek" but I am not certain why OSU continues to allow this thug to make an ass of the school.

      BTW
"Life Promises for Success: Promises from God on Achieving Your Best" ...Thou shalt not steal...it's pretty clear where Tressel stood publicly anyway on the crime.

Pryor is still seeking a meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell to make a case for being declared eligible, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen on Sunday.

The Maurice Clarett shitstorm? I'm trying to recall all the NCAA sanctions we got nailed with after that. Armed robbery 4 years after you last played a down for OSU, that got us what? 2 years bowl ban? Whew, hope something that awful doesn't happen again!! Keep your fingers crossed for us, OP!

          • Plus with all the negative publicity the Clarett saga got us, our recruiting was never the same. Parents didn't want to send their kids to a school that would let that happen to one of their former players.

And remember Sammy Maldonado? The article is probably bookmarked on your computer if you've forgotten. Well shoot, that story devastated the program.

See, if this were true, OP, he'd be ineligible for the upcoming season and therefore elibigble for the supplemental draft. The rest of your screed, I didn't even bother to read.

TP's elibigility for the supplemental draft, as anyone knows, comes down to whether he had any eligility left prior to signing with the agent. If, lmao, if the "reports" are true, then the answer is quite obviously, no. The new "reports" on TP came out after the NFL draft.

But look, I don't blame the NCAA for not eagerly buying the steaming pile of shit stories you folks eat for breakfast. So, I guess that's why TP isn't eligible for the Supplemental Draft.

Oddly, you guys seem to hate him far more than I do -- to the point of taking positions that are obviously and diameterically opposed. I guess that's "Michigan Men" for ya.

              • ........ after having looked at this thing involving the resale of awards, I was stunned by the craziness of the NCAA rules that ACTUALLY ALLOW college players to do this.

I was also pretty amazed that the NCAA looked closely at how osu keeps track of the equipment that is issued to players and found all was on the up and up.

Seems it's OK for players to buy equipment from the program and then do whatever they want with it (within certain rules, none of which were apparently broken) ....... and, according the NCAA, osu had records of this and it was all in accordance with the rules.

I'd like to know how wide spread this sale of equipment to players is at other institutions. Yeah, it may be in accordance with the NCAA rules but whoever thought those rules up and wrote them wasn't probably thinking about the slippery slope concept.

BTW, the NCAA, at their recent retreat, put out some pretty good stuff with respect to goals they have going forward. mgoblog did a good recap. The perception of observers is that Emmert and the Presidents want to get serious about the NCAA rule book ..... its a mess; too hard to comply with (especially recruiting rules) and too many silly ruless makes enforcement laughable and wastes the time (and money) of programs trying to comply with them. As talent often opines ..... woof!

Always good for a laugh, that book title.

I really don't get it with the supplemental-draft business. Who does he think is gonna draft him? Even if he'd declared he woulda been a second-day TE prospect. Lukewarm interest to start from the NFL, and now we're deep into training camp.

The insanity of having to keep up with litany of crapola rules and then self-reporting gads of "secondary" violations is total f'n crap. It seems like they ought to focus on the real violations and not the quantity of text messages or other nonsense.

Anyway, if you read the conclusion of the NCAA investigators, the thing that bothers me is that there's a chance that the NCAA could say that one of the OSU players traded memorabilia for tattoos after Tressel received the Cicero tips. Once he was tipped, I think Rife became a "booster" -- or that's how I read it. The player in question -- Dorian Bell, most likely -- couldn't say when he received the tattoos, so the NCAA investigators couldn't conclude one way or the other if it was post-Cicero or not.

The narrative Ohio State tells is that this stuff happened mostly in 2008/2009 and that it had stopped by/didn't continue after the Cicero tip. In that regard, OSU can say Tressel, while not reporting the transgressions, at least sat down with Pryor and Posey and stopped them. However, if players continued to go to Rife after that, then that's a problem.

If I were to guess, I'd say the "Tat5" actually did stop. By that time Rife was in a heap load of trouble. Whether Dorian Bell did or not, I don't know.

So, anyway, that's the one thing I read in that letter that gave me even the slightest of concern.

                      • The inherent challenges being maintaining rules of amateurism in a billion dollar business.

That's part of the reason, incidentally, I can't stand ESPN. They, more than anyone else, has done more to pump up the value of CFB over the past two decades. To then be self-righteous over amateurism really rubs me the wrong way. I guess I'd rather they stick to being a mega production company. Oh well.

                        • I dunno about that. Not that I'm keen to defend ESPN, but to blame outsiders for unintended consequences -- forseeable ones or not -- doesn't seem fair. ESPN never mandated any of this or usurped decision-making or the power to set standards.

                          • What are TP's options if he is not chosen in the supplemental draft? Would he not be able to sign with any NFL team? I say let him fail in the NFL as soon as possible so he can get on with his life. I'm only looking out for his best interests.
I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.

I heard it through the grapevine that TP could then open up a Pawn shop in Hamtramck. That, also, has been a lifelong dream.
