I suspect Jeff wasn't hinting at anything celestial, but a more physical sort of presence. He may have been alluding to what Clarett alleged, or something along those conceptual lines.
yeah, Clarett's a dead end. There was a window of opportunity there but credit the 'Vest for circling the wagons and discrediting MoC and then burying all the evidence. It's going to be tough getting any of the enablers (like the ones paying Clarett to do nothing, etc.) to talk because they are all avid O-state supporters. Tressel or someone will have the screw them over or slight them in some severe way for any new dirt to come out there. NCAA has already closed the book on that. Look at the present situation, if not for the e-mail trail, Tressel would have never come clean and would still be smelling like a rose.
The O-state boards seem full of fans at both ends of the spectrum based on what's been posted here. Curious what Regel, DSL, Talent, and Paul S's takes are on the current situation.
just something to throw out to you cretins...just how many Emails do you think a coach at UM or OSU gets....and just how many of them do you think a coach at UM or OSU will personally read and respond to...just asking...

Tressel both read and responded to the e-mail, stating that he would do something about it. He knew that this would be a violation and that the players would be ineligible. He buried it so that they could play. Then he lied repeatedly about his knowledge of it.
Tressel can't get away with the "aw shucks, I din't know" routine anymore. It's now proven, out there in the public domain for everybody to see. No gray area. No "he said, she said". It's as black and white as black and white gets. Nice try though. Want to go for the "everybody does it" defense next?
Face it, Regel, your coach is every bit the liar and cheater that we have claimed he has been for years. I know that this is incredibly hard for you to accept, so I'll go easy on you.
And this is just what is public and proven right now. Something this egregious doens't arise without a corrupt system in place. If I were you, I would be getting very nervous about this.

That's the thing--everyone is acting like this is the first indication that something was amiss with Tressel, when the truth is that there has been smoke since pretty much day 1. He was dirty at YSU and he's been just as dirty at OSU. They were just so desperate to win there after Cooper that everyone decided to look the other way.

He also failed to notify compliance of a possible violation, which is a major issue itself.
osu AD Smith got pretty defensive this afternoon on CBS as they interviewed him between the 2 Big Ten games. They had him on to talk about the committee Smith heads that decides the field , but the interviewer, Bernie Saunders, I believe, asked Smith about Tressel and the punishments and the chances of the NCAA coming down harder on the mess. Smith, obviously very uncomfortable, stone-walled Saunders, who then continued the line of questioning from another angle, again with no success
Tressel essentially lied to the NCAA directly on top of the self imposed punishment being noted as mostly laughable by even national media. And then the perception that Tressel basically used the previous self imposed sanctions to get his players to commit to coming back their senior year.
I have to believe the NCAA will hit them with more just to save face.
Rashean Mathis: "I'm an egg guy. Last year we didn't have (the omelet station). I didn't complain, but I was dying inside."
Its a not a matter of how many e-mails that Tressel gets in a day/week/month/year. He probably has a secretary that filters out the ones that he doesn't want to see, and forwards on the ones he needs to see.
Fact of the matter is, Tressel not only saw these e-mails, he responded to them, and took action on them. He cannot claim ignorance. And shame on him, if as a Division 1A CFB coach, he was not aware of the rules that keep his program in compliance with NCAA rules. He's the head coach. He, along with the athletic director and university president, are on the hook to be sure that the rules are adhered to.
Tressel failed to do so. So far, he's received a very mild tap on the wrist. We'll see if the NCAA agrees that its enough. I wouldn't be surprised if they left it at that, because Tressel has friends within the NCAA who can pull strings and influence people.
Of the three recent bad boys of college sports, UCONN’s B-Ball coach Jim Calhoun, UT’s Bruce Pearl and osu’s football coach jim tressel, tressel received the lightest punishment from his school. All of them were involved in conduct that violated article 10.1 of the NCAA rule book which prohibits unethical conduct. None of them were fired …. yet.
The important thing to consider here is that while all of them violated 10.1, none of them will likely receive the same punishment. This circumstance helps to highlight why coaches don’t really take the NCAA rules seriously and are willing to take huge risks for the programs they lead to gain a competitive advantage.
Reading about the acts these coaches perpetrated in violation of the NCAA rules gives rise to questions about the actual role and ability of the NCAA to curtail the dirt. The curious thing about the current situation is that participation, and by extension compliance with NCAA rules, is by agreement between the NCAA and participating institutions. No question, the NCAA investigative and adjudicative processes are burdened in their ability to deliver stiff punishments in order to curtail undesirable behaviors by politics.
What this means to me is that all of these bad boys, and especially jim tressel, may receive nothing more than the penalties already imposed by their respective institutions. If I were to point to two recent situations where violations were egregious and obvious and NCAA penalties had minimal impact on the offending institutions, it would be the Cam Newton and Tat 5 situations in December, 10 and it appears that a third situation, tressel’s lieing, although egregious and offensive in it’s own right, will also receive scant punishment.
It seems to me that in the case of NCAA actions in December 10 involving Auburn and osu these actions had more to do with preserving the potential of star athletes to play in bowl games and less to do with punishing the athletes or their respective institutions for rule breaking in an effort to curtail it. In other words, it was all about the money and the unwillingness of the NCAA to sully the reputations of its star performers (money makers) and institutions. All things considered, jim tressel and osu may skate.
Shame on the NCAA.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
Good post Hack...honestly, I forgot about that...but let me assure you, his roll in that was not doing his alma mater's bidding...it was doing his own bidding.
His "roll" in that?
I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.
