So osu renders Pryor ineligible for the whole year, basically admitting to more egregious violations than what would have simply kept him out for 5 games, yet there is "nothing more to see" in regards to the original investigation. They stand by their initial self-regulation based on the events known for the rest of it all.

Uh, no. I can quote from Mr. Smith's letter since you obviously haven't read it:

"I was disappointed to learn from your attorney that, as of June 7, 2011, you have chosen not to interview with representatives of the NCAA and The Ohio State University. In light of that decision, the University must declare you ineligible for intercollegiate competition because you have failed to cooperate with the University in violation of NCAA Bylaw 10.1."

So, by declaring TP ineligible Ohio State "basically admits" that TP wouldn't talk to the NCAA and have responded appropriately.

He twas interviewed in Omaha because he currently plays for the Omaha UFL team (and is not in school). And, of course, anything Clarett did at OSU is past the statute of limitations. Incredulous. Tressel, Gee & Smith are masters of deception and have gone to extraordinary lengths to circumvent NCAA regulations. Suspending a player for the season that has quit the team and is no longer a student at OSU, really? The last time TP was an actual "student" , 5 games was just fine?

For pure entertainment value they should just give this "Hood Rat" the "Mo Special", ply him with alcohol and guns, send him speeding down the Interstate in a "rental" and let the State Boys do the rest!

Anyway, when I read a word like "circumvent" I think, hmmmm...that's another way - granted, pejorative way - of saying "not break". So, I concur, Mr. Smith has gone to extraordinary lenghts to not break NCAA regulations. Thanks, OP!

What I said about Mr. Tressel is valid. In addition to his coaching duties, the man made numerous appearances at churches, touting Christian values. He spoke from many a pulpit during his coaching tenure at ohio. I daresay he will probably continue to make such appearances.

The question is not whether Mr. Tressel and other Christians are without sin. Its about the example that one sets. Especially when Mr. Tressel was supposed to be an example of a coach with high integrity and morals, and also a man who lived by Christian values. Apparently, he does not, or at least he chooses when, and when not to do so.

This is one of my favorite lines, btw. The out and out questioning of the sincerity of Coach Tressel religious beliefs because he didn't disclose the Cicero tip. Perhaps he should just drop being a Christian, quit giving his time to his church, quit giving his money to his church -- quit it all -- because lord knows he's a total fraud -- a total fake Christian because he didn't disclose the Cicero tips on TP and Posey.

Heh, a rather nice example of how much certain folks hate Coach Tressel and the extremes they'll go to villify him.

TP has become the team pariah and I'm certain you would agree, why "amend" his status in an attempt to make him eligible for the NFL Supplemental?

Ultimately he has stolen 50K+ in equipment which he used as cash or scrip to barter for goods and services in the greater Columbus area. If I were an Ohio State taxpayer I would demand he be charged with theft, it's not unreasonable and a step towards really cleaning this mess up.

Unless their recruits are like their fans who don't care in the least that osu is one of the dirtiest programs in the country. Like pigs in slop, the dirtier they get the happier they are. Strange really.

Didn't stop recruits from flocking to Auburn last year. Alabama was on probation when it won a NT...

OSU is awfully loaded in young talent and the state of Ohio has plenty more... I don't forsee a prolonged recovery period with the caveat being they need to make a good hire at head coach.

Exactly my point. It's nice that Tressel's cheating finally caught up to him and cost him his job and their star QB his senior year but beyond that there won't be much affect on the ohio football program. There isn't even any shame and embarrassment involved because their fans and boosters are incapable of feeling either.
