Most of the time, that stuff is behind the scenes and the coach isn't even aware. If it happened, it's not like Ewers could go to one of the coaches and say, "COACH!!!! CJ is bein' mean to me!"

LOL. Ewers was never staying at Ohio State. He was there to get his NIL (which the State of Texas prohibited at the time). He got it. He moved back home.
I'm sure CRD would have loved to have kept Ewers, but he was easily 3rd on the depth chart (at best) when he arrived.
I'm sure CRD would have loved to have kept Raiola committed, too. But shit happens.
Now, the one thing about Ewers was that he did talk a lot about being the #1 guy or shit like that. Pretty normal, I think. I could see dudes on campus being "fuck that shit" -- but they should probably keep that to themselves.
Whatever.
Again, Ohio State is obviously a sinking ship. In the inmates run the asylum.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

And, honestly, with Ewers, I think he really liked Ohio State. I know a ton of others tried to sign him and to places that would have given him more NIL money than OSU could (at the time) so if it's just about the cash, I don't understand it. But it's not my team and I'm not in the know about him."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

He did like Ohio State. But the reason he committed was that he could skip his senior year, enroll early and get NIL. He couldn't do that at Texas. He was then a should-be high school senior thousands of miles away with no real hope of playing and he was, I think, really homesick. Some of the "country boys" on the OSU team took him hunting a couple times -- or so I read.
Anyway, I don't have a bad thing to say about him. I just don't think there was much that could be done to keep him in Columbus -- especially once the NIL doors/portal opened -- and he had earlier playing opportunities at Texas.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

I reject your opinion.
Here’s what happened: Stroud was a bag grades/team cancer and threatened to get Ewer’s mom hooked on fentanyl and sold into a Thai prostitution ring if he didn’t pack his bags and leave.
The thuggish Buckeye ways are despicable and you are their willing apologist. You should be shot, buried, dug up, shot again, and re-buried."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln
