  • Yep, yep. Why oh why doesn't the NCAA look at this the same way as Michigan fans do? And when Michigan inevitably gets caught cheating again, that will be all OSU's fault too, because they were only just trying to keep up.

Like I predicted, what the NCAA determines ultimately wouldn't mean squat to those who hate us. We're guilty of everything written in every article and sorely deserved to have the program disbanded for decades to come. A sad, awful day for those of such a mindset

      • I need to get a job in the NCAA compliance department so I can sit on my ass and not do a goddamn thing while collecting a nice paycheck.
I told you guys, that OLieO has friends in high places in the NCAA. Those connections are now paying off.

That's why I haven't jumped on the "smash them" bandwagon, .. because I knew from the start that OLieO was pretty much going to get away with it. Now, it appears that they will

Any sanctions now will be routine and amount to less than a slap on the wrist. I seriously doubt that there will be ANY loss of scholarships, and I'd even bet that the NCAA may accept OLieO's "self imposed sanctions" as being sufficient.

When you cheat, and have friends in high places, you can get away with it. OLieO has just proven it.

        • Well, at least the "vest" is gone. Along with that, their coaching situation is in flux for this coming season, and Fickell's successor will have to pull a "Hoke" when it comes to recruiting. Meyer may be able to do that, but Hoke will at least have a head start.

As has Auburn, Oregon, Alabama... There is no way to win clean these days. None.

            • Well, I still like the way that Michigan has done it all along.

We may not get the praise of the sports media and "elite" programs, but at least at the end of the day, we can hold our heads high and know we did it right.

Its hard to do, when you have to look at the scoreboard, and know that the cheaters are winning by cheating, and getting away with it. But, I still say its not worth it in the long run.

But, that's just me. Maybe Michigan needs to hire a Lane Kiffin or Pete Carroll to get us back in the BCS Championship picture.

Who gives a shit? Seriouly. If rules arent enforced, there is no right way anymore. There are winning programs and naive ones.

How stupid do we look for actually taking Stretchgate seriously?

                  schadjoe Joe Schad
Tressel said in NCAA interview he always knew at some point OSU was "gonna pay the fiddler" due to violations

                  • Of course he knew. Because he knew he was cheating from day 1. And now the NCAA is sanctioning it.

The NCAA is essentially encouraging every team out there to cheat to their hearts content. As far the NCAA is concerned, schoools that follow the rules are suckers.

If all that happens to you if you blatantly cheat is that you have to fire your coach and pretend a few games didn't happen, then there is really no reason for anyone to follow the rules anymore. The rewards of cheating are about a million times bigger than the cost.

                    • NCAA's message to OSU? "It's ok to cheat"

                      • It wouldn't shock me to see them bring back Tressel after one year off. Let him serve one year off the job as "punishment", then re-hire him.

After all, what he did was "no big deal".

                        • From another board....

That is correct. In the NCAA's eyes, Nebraska is the more serious rules violator.

The NCAA is a sad organization full of incompetent twits. Much like every branch of every level of federal and state government in our country.

Now, it's ok to pay players as long as you pay a family member, and not the player himself. And it's ok to cheat in every way imaginable and have it be a minor violation as long as the AD has you simply not ever tell him when you're cheating.

                          • AD's have no incentive to hire clean coaches. You hire rule benders to win and fire them when caught.

Negative recruiting against OSU will hopefully be a bit more difficult now.

Exactly. OSU has just laid the blueprint for the illegal NCAA program. You hire coaches who cheat and just don't tell you about it. Then, if you happen to get unlucky and get caught, you just fire them and go on like nothing happened.

Pathetic. I think the Auburn situation is even more pathetic, but if any two incidents showed the NCAA no longer has any purpose in football, it is these two.
