That was the first act. The second was the beat down administered by Mississippi in Jacksonville, FL, 2011 to a frail Michigan football team whose assistant coaches had checked out and coached by Rodriguez in the agonal end days of his tenure at M.
Painful to witness.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
Possibly the darkest of all days for Michigan football.
Despite all the losses Rich Rod had us endure, this was the only time I was literally embarrassed to be a Michigan fan. That simply can never happen again. Ever.
Sure, Bo was a lot better than LC handling the press but he had a construct that he operated within that was built on honesty, integrity and sportsmanship.
Bo also had near god-like status during his reign. He could intimidate the press without really trying too hard. He had a way of letting the press know when he didn't like a question without be too overtly ornery.
I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.
....... Twitter, the Internet, the plethora of really good CFB bloggers and even legit journalists (Yahoo Sports comes to mind), and cell phone cameras has virtually made hiding anything or getting away with a smart ass comment at a press conference virtually impossible.
I think its good. It exposes shit programs like osu for what they are and can open smoke filled back rooms and expose dirty dealing in CFB.

The new model of bloggers+national media+ad hoc info dissemination had better get things right, as it's helped to bury the old system of newspapers sending a beat reporter. That was a tired system, but it did have standards and predictability. And access. There are seemingly no journalists in Michigan, for example, with any real sources on the Pistons. Every story is broken on a national level, and the local papers are reduced to hitting refresh on ESPN.com. So either you have good local bloggers with sources and hunger or you're reliant on what the national-level guys are going to care about chasing.
The NCAA has agreed with Ohio State that former coach Jim Tressel was the sole official who knew of infractions by his players, violations he failed to timely report.
OSU and NCAA agree on findings
Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.
Basically eliminates the possibility of OSU getting severe sanctions without any further accusations/findings by the NCAA. My guess for now is 5 schollies for one year (possibly 2) and a one year bowl ban. We'll see if they look into Dennis Talbot or the Columbus Vehicle of the Month club.
Gentlemen, it's a beautiful day. Vindication. The NCAA will not be handing down the most serious penalties, a bowl ban might not even happen, and the NCAA has declared that it hasn't found any new violations.
The car thing is dead. Been telling you this for a while.
Why in the hell should any major program even pretend to play by the rules anymore?.
It's not over at OSU yet, but that's a good question. The playing field is not level right now, and this is more conspicuous than ever. What the NCAA ultimately does with OSU will send a resounding message to the rest of the college football world. I hope that Michigan will be watching very closely and act accordingly. I'm sure that there are lots of wealthy Michigan boosters who wouldn't mind giving prized recruits some cash and vehicles.
