I'm not sure you saw the same 50 minutes of shit-ball from osu I saw along with the 10 minutes of miracles in the 4th quarter from stroud and his receivers. stroud's a factor for sure in osu's future prospects. Nothing new there but Manny Diaz's fucked over PSU again playing his 3-3-5 nickel soft scheme against a QB he should have known would shred it. Regretful.

I saw an osu offense that for 50 minutes of the game couldn't run the ball and had some issues defending inside runs. WIthout the wrecking ball that is DE tuiimoloau getting 3 interceptions changing the complexion of the game, the outcome could have been very different. I'm not sure talent is celebrating this win after he called for CRDs firing before the scoring flood gates were flung open.

Plenty of tape for Minter to work off of for a couple of weeks.

    • The key to beating tOSU is to outscore them. If you can do that you have a shot.

      • I was mostly happy with defense. I was infuriated with play-calling because I really thought OSU could hurt Penn State downfield. They did almost every time they tried. And they did at the end of the game. That had nothing to do with Manny Diaz. It has everything to do with Harrison being a future all-pro and Stroud being really good.

CRD was awful today. AWFUL. There’s almost no chance they beat M. But, still, fuck Penn State. And if anyone thinks I’m not going to be happy with an improbable 28 point sledge to tge scrotum of asshat Penn State fans, then they don’t know how much of hate those fucks.

The long-term is what it is. The hay is in the barn. M is waaay better with more talent and best staff in CFB. I’ve made my peace with that. Today, though, fuck Penn State.

BTW, if the Genius of Minter gets beat by the idiocy of CRD, you’re gonna about it, JB.

          • DIaz is a liability for PSU facing any team that has a competent run game - right now, osu doesn't. Yes, Harrison is a future first rounder and if Diaz thinks he has to play Cover - 3 to compensate for shit CBs and Ss that's one thing but I don't think that is the case with PSU's back end. Those are quality guys back there that Diaz is putting in a position to get beat. So, I disagree that Diaz didn't have something to do with the 2 point a minute offense stroud dialed up for 10 out of 60 minutes of clock time.

Something worth mentioning and this isn't any big secret but watching the Big Ten games today, the best of them have explosive offenses capable of punishing an opponents mistakes. That would be osu. M does it but it's a different kind of game flow control. Incremental big plays are the norm.

            • No sandbagging here at all. What I saw in those last 10 minutes was what I expect to see from OSU for 60 minutes when we all gather in Columbus. This is a very talented team, that will be very highly motivated for a spot in the playoffs, and for the revenge factor of '21. If they had to play next week, I'd make OSU a 14 point favorite.

When PSU took that 24-22 lead with about 9:00 to go (or whatever the score was) I told my son, "Ain't no way PSU hangs on to this one". Too much time, too much talent to contain. And then the coaching factor and play calling which would make even Al Borges call Franklin a fool. Un freaking believable.

Finally, I think Stroud became the Heisman winner today. Its his trophy to lose. That comeback is what the voters love. He'd have to have at least a couple stinkers to be moved from the top spot. He's an incredible talent. But, I don't think OSU has had a bad QB since 2000. I'd be interested to know what the completion percentage is for OSU QB's since the year 2000. I'd guess it has to be somewhere in the upper 70% range. They don't throw bad balls. And if there is a bad ball, their receivers make incredible catches. Michigan has had a whole crock pot full of bad QB's in that time frame.

Oh well. We need M to take care of its own business tonite to set up the game in Columbus.

              • Stroud’s Heisman comes down to one game. Well, maybe two — Hooker at Georgia.

M would be about 6 or 7 point underdog per Vegas.

M eventually needs JJ to be really good if they want to be truly CFP elite. And probably a slight upgrade in WRs. They can’t manball past elite SEC teams.

When OSU really attacked PSU they were pretty good. When they were running bullshit they were awful.

                • Hooker will be playing against Alabama on steroids when he goes to Athens. Literally and figureatively. He ain't winning the Heisman there.

Stroud has one more difficult opponent before the playoffs, and he gets that one at home.

JJ is at least a year away. He's good now, and getting better, but not yet 'elite' however that is defined.

If he can be persuaded to come back for his senior year, that's where he could be special.

Passes over the middle could be completed at will. PSU had no answer for it. In response we kept running pure bullshit.

                    • It was excruciating, DSL. In the 3rd, they drive straight down to 25 throwing downfield. Then run 2 WR screens for 3 yards, then Henderson for 4 and kick the FG. It was sabotage. Plain and simple.

                      • Well you’ve gotta keep the defense honest by mixing it up a tiny bit.

When I saw PSU shut down OSU’s plays it looked to me more like PSU winning one-on-one battles than RPS wins. That was especially true of the WR screens. We also ran maybe three or four of those too and PSU devoured them.

                        • Right. What Penn State wasn’t winning was anyone against MH Jr.

I understand the need to mix things up, but until they stop it I’d focus on what works and then play off that.

Henderson’s long TD run was a result of two preceding passes and a light box.

                          • I agree with Talent. Defenses adjust but passes in the middle of the field worked all damn game. What never worked are running plays and screens that develop 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. And we kept trying those over and over again. Henderson is not as good as Williams but we did him no favors with the run plays we chose for him.

                            • So did you guys pay Gus Johnson to add the “World Famous” tagline to the “ Ohio State Buckeyes”? The last thing that the world needs is more OSU praise.

Y'all can fuck off with that.

                              • Legit question — not smack talk….

Is OSU just legitimately bad at running the football? I don’t remember the last time that the Bucks struggled on the ground this much when they faced decent competition— before the Urban days for sure. OSU not having a great running game is almost impossible for me to comprehend.

The season stats don't tell a bad story, but stats from three games against common opponents suggest a near full reversal of the Hoke vs. Urban days.
