Co-sign those posts above from Hanni's comment on down. I think that Brown has a plan ..... that he will start with. Whatever he had v. osu last season got got out of the gate. The worst part is it appeared he had no idea what to do to fix it or whatever he did try failed.
There are indications that he has worked on M's vulnerability to slants and drags that olave, among others, abused Josh Metellus with. That work appears to me to have produced post snap changes designed to confuse the QB's reads as he receives the snap. Looks like a blitz on the front end and C1 or 0 Man on the back and turns out to be a C2 Zone with the hybrid (and this spot is filled by several LBs and Ss) taking the slot receiver, crossing WR or RB that crosses his face in his zone. That was effective v. ND albeit in a monsoon that hurt ND's passing game. It killed Lovey's approach in Bloomington and he runs a very spready offense, similar to day's at osu, without the talent of fields throwing to speed ball receivers.
Maryland tried it but the Terps are actually more of a power run team. Frankly, M is more vulnerable to runs between the tackles this season than 2018. One of the things Brown has done to mitigate the weaknesses at DT is to run these 3 down lineman fronts in combos of DTs, DEs and LBs that invite attacking the huge gaps this produces. Those gaps get quickly filled ..... sometimes. Sometimes they don't. Chunk plays result. Edge security has generally been good - see the ND run game that failed.
It was the combo of run/pass plays, especially haskins making quick throws to avoid pressure that stumped Don Brown and confused LBs and Ss last season when Brown tried to unsuccessfully fix it. The other problem in 2019 is a lack of pressure on deep throws. That wasn't a problem in 2018 except at osu whose OL won that battle convincingly along with excellent play design that helped haskins. The speed in the WR room at osu is impressive. They can outrun Hill and Vincent Gray and probably Ambry Thomas. fields will be coached to take the shot if single coverage presents itself especially if it's Gray not getting over-under coverage from a S. A couple of those that get TDs will put distance between M and osu that will be hard for M's offense to answer.... and that is equal parts the quality of Patterson's deep ball and Harbaugh's organic lack of urgency and tendency to stick with his game plan regardless of the score differential.
M may be able to keep it close for two quarters but the talent differential along with M's D getting fatigued in the 3rd and 4th because M's offense is limited/lacks explosiveness, will allow osu to finish M off convincingly.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

One thing OSU does that could stress M is that they will line up WRs about as wide as you get them. And Fields can make that cross-hash out throw all day. So, they really try to stretch your secondary out to set up their base run plays. Fields can also make the throws that rip C2 apart. Watch some of his throws against NW.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Miami of Ohio is going to win the MAC East. That's unfathomable to me. That has to be the worst division in CFB. Shit, if Cornell were in a league of its institutional peers, like the MAC, they could win the MAC East.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

But yeah, the MAC is straight trash. It's become the worst conference in FBS
