OSU opted for continuity and they must think Day is good enough to go that route. Gene Smith has been pretty good at hires, so I'm ok with trusting him.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
I just assumed that Day was named the interim. So, he is the final choice. Hmmm. Maybe it will work out like it did for Oklahoma.
I hope so. I'd much prefer continuity to a complete disruption when you're trying to continue 12 win seasons on average. But, I'd also like to get the best guy for the job. I think Day is pretty good. And those young gun coordinator types are all the rage in the NFL and, as you noted, Reilly is doing a nice job at OU. We'll see.
I know the cyst issue, but I wonder how much the suspension and CS/ZS horseshit influenced this decision.
We'll know definitively if UFM is coaching in 2020. But, if he stays away then I'd say it's probably mostly health. I don't think he'd let McMurphy get the better of him. But, that's JMO.
Rutgers has two more losses this season (11 losses) than Urban Meyer his entire career at Ohio State (9 losses).
Ohio State was so excellent that I remember each loss off the top of my head.
V-Tech, Clemson, MSU, Penn St, MSU, Clemson, Iowa, Oklahoma, and Purdue.
Yeah. It's pretty crazy. He lost 4 conference games. HARBAUGH!!!! lost 4 conference games in 2017.

Then again, AA, if you feel like you were fucked over and you're the vindictive, angry type you just may go coach somewhere else as a big F You. Very much like screwing over Cheesecake Factory waitresses and waging unrelenting war against Scout. Or was it Rivals?
Anyway, I really don't know the answer to that question. But from everything I've read, this was legitimate dream job and his wife and family loved it. So, if that's true you'd have to be pretty damn prideful and pretty to throw that away. Almost Jacksonian. But Urbs may be just that.

Also, you have to give Urban props for not using this to get a CFP spot by making this known before the selection show and going on TV and begging for a spot like that fucktard Kirby.

Yeah, and I think some at OSU would have truly fucked him over if it weren't for the monumental backlash that would have come from the fanbase. The whole thing was fucking ridiculous.

In hindsight, very brief hindsight, can you imagine the epic marketing for The Nick-UFM, The Final Chapter?
I guess that can wait until he's running roughshod over the P12. He may literally never lose a regular season game at USC.
