Without their rather solid committment to being them, Tressell would have been a Fickell-Cooper type. Give Harbaugh the same leeway Tressell or Meyer have and there's no questions about his coaching ability.

To be clear, Fickell wasn't a head coach hiring. And Cooper was solid HC. He wasn't a crunch-time coach, to be sure, but he did a very nice job of salvaging a program that was in considerable trouble by the end of the Bruce Era. And 111-43-1 isn't terrible. I mean, it is if it's compared to Tressel and UFM, but, e.g., HARBAUGH!!!!'s college winning percentage is a piddley 69% and he's only 71% at M. So, I mean, Cooper=HARBAUGH!!! -- which, like I said, is a nice solid HC.

But, when Tressel goes 106-22 (96-17 after his first year) and UFM is 73-8 -- yeah, the Coopers and HARBAUGH!!!s of the world are a definite step down.

Wow. In Non-Fickell seasons since 2002, Ohio State is 169-22. To be fair, that's a little inflated with a 14-1 record against M.
