Yep, with the half ass "punishment" OSU gave itself, it clearly demonstrated that having a top elite program is what matters most. I have no sympathy for the program because it kept digging itself a hole when they could have corrected it numerous times.

2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

    • It over. Time to move on, im glad he did not get canned and don't think it was warranted either. Justice (for being a dirt bag in general) is best served on the field.

      • As much as osu and meyer would like to have it over, I don't think it is.

There's an interesting piece at mgo suggesting the local media let meyer and osu down by not questioning the hiring of ZS in 2015 and then doing some investigative reporting on ZS's shaky background, following his antics more closely. This to uncover some dirt on the guy ...... and there was plenty of it over the ensuing 3 years.

I can't speak to that line of thinking because I don't live in c-bus but I do think the sharks are going to be circling which means more scrutiny. I'd hope the scrutiny and reporting of things subsequently discovered are reported with more journalistic integrity than that done by Brett McMurphy although I doubt that will happen as he, in particular, is going to be all over this. The admission by the osu investigative body that meyer may have deleted some iPhone texts is going to get a lot of play.

A couple of threads I've seen discuss the likelihood of discovering the dates the texts were deleted. The general consensus is that technically, there are certainly ways to do that but the legal hurdles to do it are not insubstantial. ufm is in deep shit if these suspicions meaningful to the current circumstance about deleted texts are confirmed.

It's going to be a tough road for osu and meyer going forward. If osu loses a couple of games during September, the pressure on the program and meyer is going to increase. A TCU loss combined with a loss to PSU, both road games, could be a very bad thing.

While I've criticized how the punishment to meyer came down, as an M fan, it's not easy to not chortle a bit. The mighty always fall with a silence shattering thud. It would be nice to have M face a 3 or 4 loss osu in The Game this season and send ufm packing with a home loss to HARBAUGH!!!
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

              • I know TCU had massive turnover but it being more or less a road game and Patterson being a very good coach still has me pretty nervous.

                  • I don't think you'll have to worry about that no matter who the coach is.

A bad coach destroys a team. Stallings left Bama with 70 wins in 7 years and a NC. Shula and Dubose coached a combined 8 years for 50 wins. 5 of those 8 seasons had 6 losses or more.

                      • I'm familiar with Alabama football, I am certain OSU will not have the same mistakes when they get a new coach. The next coach will be as good or better than Urban Meyer, I am quite confident in that.

                        • As good or better than Urban is a very tough order.

There are just exponentially more John Coopers than Urbans. Cooper wasn't a horrible coach, but he still had more 4-loss or more seasons at Ohio State than he had seasons with 3 losses or less.

                            • John Cooper is about the lowest OSU is ever going to get with coaches.
