  • Strangelove, the bottom line is, .. if Jim Tressel would have done the right thing from the start, he'd still be ohio's coach today.

Unfortunately, the right thing would have included reporting Pryor's actions to the compliance officer, along with the AD and university president.

The remedy for that was to remove Pryor from the team. Tressel decided that the cost of being honest was too high. He couldn't go into the season without his best QB. So, he rolled the dice, and lost.

Yes, I will agree that Pryor had character issues. But, I think Tressel probably knew that when he recruited the kid. It was a risky move from the start.

But that's what happens when winning is paramount to everything else.

While that makes perfect sense on paper, OSU did not distance itself from Tressel or Pryor. Tressel resigned and it is Pryor announcing through his lawyer that he isn't returning. If OSU was trying to make a show of getting rid of its bad seeds, brass should have made a spectacle out of firing Tressel and kicking Pryor off the team, no? Why let Tressel and Pryor control their departures?

        • Pryor was over rated to begin with.. his comments about how great he would be if he was in Auburn tell you all you need to know about him.

            • Whether he will be eligible immediately for an NFL supplemental draft remains to be seen. Usually a player has to have extenuating circumstances that cropped up after the regular draft, one of which could be being declared ineligible by his school. OSU has not done that, at least not yet.

Seems like a big gamble for tp to just leave o-lie-o. And there is no love lost between smith and fickell.

OSU athletic director Gene Smith said in a statement released by the school, "We understand Terrelle's decision and wish him well in this next phase of his life. We hope he returns to The Ohio State University one day to finish his degree."
Interim head coach Luke Fickell added, "I was notified this evening that Terrelle has decided to pursue a professional career. I wish him the best in his pursuits."

                • Pryor is at fault here, no doubt. But, apparently, so are a couple dozen other athletes, without question the OSU coaching staff and compliance office. He's taking far too much blame IMO. And his teammates must have had an inkling about what others on the team were doing, and how it affected their accomplishments and future....and yet NONE of them stood up and confronted the guilty? Cry me a fucking river.

I wonder who pays for his lawyer? The university?

I couldn't give a rat's ass if he was wanted back. Reading articles since saint jim's resignation and the ncaa coming back for a second look on tp, tp's lawyers made out like he was some innocent bystander in this whole mess while tp's guardian says he will probable stay at o-lie-o(only to recant that statement) and feels that tp was hanging around with the wrong crowd. All of a sudden something has changed. Now tonight, the rest of o-lie-o nation is sitting there thinking that the ncaa will forgive them for getting rid of saint jim and tp. I think there is more to come.

                              • ESPN.com Senior Writer has interviewed Pryor's "former friend", who claims he witnessed multiple exchanges of money for signed memorabilia.

It's on Sports Center right now. This just keeps getting worse.

Terrelle Pryor made thousands of dollars autographing memorabilia in 2009-10, a former friend who says he witnessed the transactions has told "Outside the Lines."
