OSU will punish themselves and serve up Tressel and Pryor as fall guys. NCAA will accept the self punishment. The NCAA won't want to hurt OSU too much.

Below is a Dispatch article that encapsulates what osu officials have said in recent days regarding the Dohrmann piece's allegations. I find it odd that they have stated publically that there were questions raised by internal audits about cars and equipment going back to 2006
If that is so, how is that 5 years pass and we are just now learning, from an outside source, about the scope of abuses of NCAA rules by players?
I have seen this opinion on the line that osu appears to be taking in this: In order to defend against the allegation of LOIC, the argument might be that we (osu) identified the problem a while back, took steps to correct these problems but several players (not everyone but a specific set) were determined to find ways to get around the processes we implemented. Moreover, the single person most responsible for policing the process, jim tressel, has been held accountable and elected to leave the program rather than suffer the consequences.
This logic leads to the conclusion that gene smith and doug archie (Compliance) are next and most think neither will survive the month of June. As well, it is very likely that several players, obviously among them terrell pryor, will be dismissed from the team before the start of fall practice.
Some think that if osu takes all these steps, even if the recent events revealed in the Dohrmann piece are confirmed, osu will go before the COI in August (assuming it does not get move back ..... a bad sign for osu) having done enough to avoid significant penalties in addition to what has already been imposed by osu, notwithstanding the obvious direction that osu will have to vacate all its 2010 regular season wins and probably all wins that ineligible players participated in.

Really? Fire those guys and not get any more penalties? That sounds silly when guys like Spielman are out there using phrases like ``USC-plus''. Sounds fine and fair to let some heads roll, but still at least some bowl ban/scholarship reduction seems justified. This has been the talk of college football for a few months now, and that's likely to continue, at least sporadically until there's games to play. Hard to imagine the NCAA isn't going to add to what has been self-imposed. Those guys should be fired either way.
I don't know what the right balance is to strike, but greedily, with the health of The Game in mind, intuitively it seems to me OSU needs to have 2 or 3 years without a bowl and with less scholarships. Again, I understand that intuition may not be the best guide...

I don't think firing Tressel ends this for OhNo. Gee and Smith still have some serious 'splanin' to do.
And I don't see HOW Pryor can play for them this year. He's not exactly going to be well-liked in C-bus, for taking down Tressel.
But, you never know. Most of the average Schmucknut fans only care about winning. If he wins games, all is forgiven."in order to lead America you must love America"

Taken from MGoBlog. Did anyone else hear this?:
This morning on 1050, Sam spoke with John U. Bacon, who we all know is a pretty big Michigan guy. They asked him what Bo would've thought about this OSU drama. John told them "I can tell you what he did say about Tressel, and this is an exact quote". Then he went on to say that Bo told him that he thought that Tressel was a "snake in the grass".I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.

WM .... I think archie is still the Compliance guy at osu. He replaced some one (name escapes me) several years ago who, "left for other opportunities."Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. My first realization of how morally bankrupt he is was with the Reynolds incident, and everything has just piled on from that point forward.

Rumors about Oregon have been swirling for a while now. I wonder if that's the 10/10 story rumored to have been in development for a while.
RichRod vaguely hinted that one of the programs that beat up Michigan in recruiting was going to get into trouble soon. Oregon and Auburn seem like likely candidates.

Plenty of smoke at both places, just like USC & OSU before them...
Lache Seastruck's recruitment is pretty bizarre, only topped by DeAnthony Thomas' who was recruiting for USC (as a USC commit) as late as the Army AA Bowl. That is right after the NT game btw, just a few weeks before NSD.

Yeah, the big rumor has been Oregon for a while now, and the rumor is it is a lot worse than what OSU has been tagged with so far. But college football rumors have been even more wrong than usual recently, so I'll believe it when I see it.
