The recruiting difference for 2016 and 2017 was small enough to be manageable for Harbaugh.
Now, 2017 is only one year, so it's easy enough to work around. The problem is that the difference in 2018 could be even greater. In fact, I'd be shocked if it wasn't significantly greater.
So, if you sit down and put together a starting lineup from M's 2017 and 2018 (as currently constituted + reasonable projections) classes and OSU's 2017-18 classes, the difference apparent.
