Ohio State waited on Warinner before announcing Wilson. They didn't want fire him, but rather wanted to give him a chance to move to a different school.
A real loss, IMO, but it was inevitable with the move to Wilson.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
He only needs to stay eligible for two semesters!!! Then he go off to the NFL. Your boy Garcia said it was a combo of Smart leaving and getting beat out. Grades would also explain it.

Kevin Wilson - another a-hole who lands on his feet. His Indiana teams were scary on offense. What he'll do with the boys Urban hands him at osu should be record shattering. Nick Saban will have a hard time stopping them in a future championship game.
I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.
The good news is, the Louisvilles and Washington States of the world won't care about his past, so he could still get hired by somebody else in a couple of years. Let's pray that happens.
Wasn't he "abusing" players? No specifics, but a former player from a different school did say that Wilson once yanked off his strapped helmet an punched him. Never saw the guy smile. He is all business to the point of being a grump. Even Dantonio smiles and jokes around sometimes.

I'm comfortable with evil and genius. I cannot brook evil nincompoops. Fortunately, the former heads up the thing I hold most dear while the latter is only heading up my country.

Yeah, there are stories out there, but I haven't heard much beyond those. If I had to bet, I'd say his generally assholish ways extended to Administration and when he was caught in somewhat of an imbroglio he had no rabbi to defend him. And, perhaps, a fair number with daggers out.
So, that's why I wonder a bit. I could see something borderline getting him fired because he's a total jerk.
In any event, he's coached a ton and done some pretty good work as a coordinator. I haven't really heard anything about him being someone you can't work with or being run off by the HC, etc.
Every program has its own culture. The Nick has "The Process" -- do it his way, every play, every day -- and so on. Dabo is a big goddamn loving family. Ohio State tries to break you. They make you earn your way on to the team as freshman (black stripe removal) and try to push you to your breaking point to find out if you can cut it. I'm sure HARBAUGH!!!! has his culture, too, and it's probably a combination of The Nick and UFM.
Anyway, the point I am very slowly making is that Wilson's jackassery may fit nicely into the OSU culture. Heh. Of course, trusting that UFM keeps him from going over the line.

.......... I'm pretty sure IU's President, McRobbie and AD, Glass had a hammer that they pulled out, convicting Wilson, that we don't know anything about.
Just the way the firing played out, all carefully scripted with the appearance, to me anyway, of an orchestrated episode to avoid any liability on IU's part.
The perfect "firing."
Frankly, playing football is a big boy's undertaking at every level. I've got no problem with ass-kicking. In doing that, though, there is a line with plenty of gray on either side that you don't want to cross.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
