Beck is out (probably to Texas). Wilson is in. Probably announced in very near future. Probably comes off as Beck departing for UT as Co-OC or something. Then Wilson gets announced shortly thereafter.
I love Wilson as an OC. Hopefully he can back his asswipery.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

It's now being reported that Beck is going to Texas. First step.
Ryan Day will be their new QB Coach. Kevin Wilson will be their OC. Wilson seems like he'll be stuck at that level for 2-3 years as he needs to "rehab his image."
Not sure what will happen with Warriner. The lack of depth on the OL is on him.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

I admit his dirty laundry from IU has me a little concerned.
Now he's back to OC. He isn't the king -- he doesn't have free reign to be an asswipe.
But, frankly, he can be a first ballot Douchebag Hall of Famer -- if he gets the offense back to tearing apart GOOD defenses, then I'm in!Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

The more interesting topic is the future of JTB. There are some rumors that he may grad transfer to Texas. From what I know, he anticipated this being his final season. I think he was planning on the NFL. I'm not sure what a grad transfer would get him, but he may want to partner with Herman to try to up his stock. Don't know. I'd be shocked, but I consider it a plausible option (unlike the Braxton stuff).
Also, the batshit crazy rumors are Chip Kelly. I'd prefer Wilson. He's longer term given his baggage. Also, you know, Wilson is a legitimate reality.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Well, sure. But only one of them is realistic. They're going away from QB leads all day and moving toward more passing. I like Wilson in that regard. If Burrow or Haskins turns out to be Sam Bradford, then I really like him!
Chipper is f'n nonsense. The only reason I even threw it out there is that one guy who is saying it has some legitimate credibility. But, still....no way.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Yeah, Chip and UFM apparently get along really well -- to the point that Chip helped UFM out for the OREGON game in 2014.
In any event, it's clear heads are rolling. Making the CFP isn't going to cut it. Last time they lost to Clemson, Withers "moved on" and Fickell "focused on LBs" and they brought in Ash. It was a complete change in defensive philosophy.
Offensively it's a little harder to make a big change because UFM is so involved. But, I think they need to re-think how they execute UFM's core offensive principles. Wilson (or, heh, Kelly) would have the authority and reputation to significantly alter the offense. I think that's probably good. It seems like a better percentage play than hoping to find another generational talent at RB.
BTW, this is exactly the type of shit/reaction that will drive Hannibal nuts. Side benefit!Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

What may drive Hannibal nuts may not be in your best interest offensively IMO. My far away observation is that in a lot of big games you kind of get away from Hannibal may derisively call Manball. Having all the bells and whistles is great but it can't take away from need to win the battle of the trenches in big games. Ultimately everyone for now has to think about beating Alabama, that requires Manball.

It would seem like either Warriner or Studrawa are out. I can't imagine Warriner taking a demotion, so I expect him to find another home. Which he will.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
