  • It's hard to win championships. Whoever has the most titles wins the "greatest ever" title. Saban is really padding his stats right now with his quasi NFL team.

    • It's hard to win championships and it's hard to develop teams that dominate year-after-year and Saban is doing that. That's not padding your stats, that's doing your job.

          • UfM imo is the best but Saban's longer tenure pads his resume.

              • I'm not sure why you'd want to post that here. I mean, unless you want me to give my opinion on folks who blame officiating (FYI, the most recent version of it is about 10 pages back after OSU lost to PSU).

I understand it. It's what fanbases do. All of them. But that's doesn't alter my personal opinion of it.

                • No, I do not want or need your opinion on the matter. I put it here because someone closed the Game Day thread, and this seemed the most appropriate place. It's simply the best angle I've seen. There were plenty of reasons Michigan lost, not the least of which was their quarterback. But all of that would have been erased if not for incompetence or homerism.

                    • It's not like I think you had anything to do with what happened. We're all just observers. Arguing about it is futile. That said, a more equitable distribution of deserved penalties may have greatly assisted a different outcome.

As for the picture above with the comment about Michigan Girls, I posted it not to poke at you but to show how classless some fans are.

                      • Oh, no, I don't care a lick about the girls picture. Heh.

I was talking about the JTB "did he or didn't he" argument. I've yet to see anything definitive. That includes the ridiculous "overhead" image OSU fans post and the one you posted with the TV angle on the left side of the 15. There is only decent TV angle. It was slightly offset to the right of the 15. There's no changing that. And that's hard to tell.

Anyway, it's a spot. It was probably not more than an inch or two either way. I have my very definitive thoughts on folks who wail about such a close call. As I said, I get that all fanbases do it. OSU fans would have been outraged if he didn't get the spot. But, that said, I wouldn't have been one of them.

All this does is make the loss even more painful for M fans. And all that does is add to the schadenfreude. I think M forums are a reading delight for most OSU fans. Again, that's also not necessarily me. I'm married to a M fan and "know" some M fans here I like a great deal, so I'm a little torn. Reading Mgo is fantastic, but reading this forum and seeing my wife is not so much.

                        • I would still like to know exactly how an officiating crew is set for a game. There wasn't just the spot at issue here. I still think that you don't get to win on the road turning it over three times or passing out of your own end zone so carelessly, and the roughing-the-punter call was fully legit. But that's no reason not to have the best possible reffing, and it does seem like there may be lessons for the future in terms of how crews are assembled.

                          • On the recruiting front -- yeah, that was probably a good game to get folks to. It's nice to show kids what they could be playing in, and it doesn't get much better than that. So, that's a great thing for the class of 2018 and even the few 2019 kids there.

As for the current class, Okudah has been, is currently and will be IN. Browning is very much a Bama-OSU battle. F Bama. Wilson will probably seriously consider OSU now, but it's hard to imagine that happening. Akers and Holmes both made it, but it'll probably be the last time they're on campus.

So -- meh -- Browning is a bad ass. Would love to get him. Both schools seem to think they'll get him, but I'd guess Bama. Wilson, I think is LSU. I don't think he'll leave the region. I had it at 99.9% before this weekend and maybe it's down to 90%. But, I think Orgeron will get him. He's a hell of an f'n recruiter. Oddly, from what I just read, Browning's parents want him at OSU but he's leaning Bama; Wilson is leaning OSU and playing with Okudah, but his mother wants him close to home. F that bullshit!

Love the 2018 class, though. Really, really optimistic that UFM can match this year's class (assuming Browning and, lol, Wilson stay south).

Crews are selected by the Big Ten Head of Officials I assume. HARBAUGH! has a complaint on the uncalled PI in the OT but the rest of his tirade...meh. M looked like the better team most of the game but M's critical mistakes late doomed them...not the officials. Classic game...one for the ages...no need to whine. I still feel M is one of the four best in the nation...but barring a bizarre Saturday they won't get in. If Clemson and UDub win the B1G Champ won't get in either.
