  • I feel dirty but I was actually hoping for us both to be undefeated in that game. I'll never look an ohio loss in the mouth but it sucks we couldnt have been the one to knock their teeth out
    F#*K OHIO!!!

    • OK watched this over a few times, psu DB grabs his arm or that is a catch possibly TD at least first down at the 16 yard line.

Next play 3rd and 10 and I thought this when I watched it live JTB gets sacked. But his knee nor elbow ever hit the ground, he rolled on the psu DL and popped up to his feet, only to give up on the play? He was never down! Crazy! This was really odd. On 4th down and long psu did not make the cardinal sin of rushing only 3 and got the sack.

        • Really thought it was over at 21-7 and Bucks would roll as I expected. Don't know where this intestinal fortitude from the Franklins came from - he is going to be absolutely insufferable. As you know we have a lot of PSU fans in the family ... the feeling between PSU and O-state I think may eventually develop much like between Sparty and M.

O-state may be M's biggest rival, but Sparty's is M. I think it will be similar for PSU and O-state. They despise urbz and O-state beyond all else.

Anyways shocked and disappointed in the O-state loss, but on the positive at least Urbz doesn't get his undefeated national champ season at O-state yet... would never hear the end of it from Talent and DSL.

          • I don' think talent will or any informed football fan ........

That was one play. The call didn't go their way. It is what it is.

The bigger problem for osu was ufm being satisfied with 21-7 with two or maybe three more opportunities inside PSU territory to put it away and not taking advantage.
This is correct. First, while the play was PI, the refs had been letting them play all night. I didn't expect anything but an egregious call to be made. Second, control what you can control. They had the game a million different ways. I thought the whole sequence once they were down at the 30 that led to the blocked FG was a disaster.

            PB:

The OSU-PSU rivalry is very real. It seems like every game at HV is a night game and a struggle no matter how good OSU is. Nearly ever game in Columbus is a blowout.

            • The o-line struggles for the third straight game...not coincidentally against the third straight team with a competent defense.

I thought it was a horrible decision to not take a time out when setting up for the FG that was ultimately blocked. Durbin kinda sucks to begin with, so rushing him onto the field with 12 secs left and kick what would've been a career long was a disaster.

              • Thoughts from the Ohio faithful on Tim Beck? Is this it for him? Why did Samuel only get two carries?

                • No re Tim Beck. The problem isn't JTB. The problem is they have mediocre WRs and no one who can take the top off a defense. For example, Devin Smith makes that catch at the end of the game interference or not. Noah Brown is a good possession type receiver and Samuel is a threat, but they have nothing special after that. This will be remedied soon enough, but not this season.

The OL has some problems when it's obvious passing downs. But that's Warriner and he's not going anywhere. And he's the OC, but don't let anyone fool you -- it's UFM's offense.

I mean, it's one f'n loss. Coaches aren't going to be fired.

Yeah, it was a total shitshow to finish off a total shitshow quarter. Durbin is good -- but he's not going to hit a 48 yarder into the wind. That's why the play-calling befuddled me. To me, it was 4 down territory. Also, UFM was super conservative. They usually go for it on 4th down and makeable inside the opponent's 50 and they had 2 times they could have done that and didn't.

I can live with the TD at the end of the half. I mean, that was a miracle. He heaved up two long balls and his WRs made plays. Also, credit to Franklin for calling a TO instead of running out the clock. The 90-yd/5 play drive came from no where.

I would have been really happy with UFM going for it from the 30 instead of the FG shitshow. I don't think PSU would have scored a TD.

Couple points of contrast, too. Both teams blocked a FG at the same end. One managed to glance over the line, was picked up and semi-returned with a flag for block below the waist. The other went directly to a fast dude in stride. Each team fucked up a punt. One went into the endzone and was only a safety. The other was recovered at the 25. Funny the way the game works.

But, that's why it's so f'n hard to win 20 games in a row on the road. I mean, this UFM's first road loss at OSU and it's his FIFTH season.

                  • Maybe urbs should send both his OCs to the booth...

This loss will probably light a fire underneath their asses, it did last year.

                    • The asses that were lit last year were not only high-to-higher round NFL draftees, but a number of them are playing really well...in the NFL.

Again, I don't mean to suggest I think this team is crap. They're pretty good. I think, for the first time all season, they'll be fairly ranked around 8 or 9. But last year's team had some, to use the parlance of our times, dudes. For example, they've sort of replaced Bosa's rush, but that guy could play play-side run defense like a bad ass. Still can, even though the Chargers don't ask him to as much. Weber is a gritty RB with good vision, good feet and a nice burst. I think he's going to be really good. But Elliot is all that AND he gets through the hole in warp speed -- he makes DBs look like they take bad angles when, in reality, they're simply taking angles to stop a normal fast back.

Anyway, the team is what I thought it is. I've said repeatedly you can't let one game change your thoughts about the team. I think I held reasonably steady after OU and I'm going to hold steady after last night's stunning effort to give the game away. So, I guess that means when I was once "sandbagging" I'm now relatively optimistic, at least vis-a-vis OSU fans, some of whom are predicting at least 2 more REGULAR season losses.

                      • This from Eleven Warriors ........

Ohio State doesn't truly control its own destiny because if Michigan were to fall prior to Nov. 26 and Penn State won out, the Buckeyes would be in trouble. But there's still a fairly strong shot Ohio State winds up with an opportunity to play itself into the Big Ten championship game with a victory over its archrival.

Things just got a little bit more difficult with Saturday's result.

"It?s not the end of our season," redshirt sophomore defensive end Sam Hubbard said. "We?re just going to get back to work and we?ve got to win out.?

PSU does have a shot if osu looses another one and with some of the problems on the OL and with no one to take the top off of a defense, osu faces defenses that will take advantage of this.

I don't see osu losing at home v. NfW or Neb but a 2 loss osu gets jobbed by a 2 loss PSU with head to head deciding who goes to Indianapolis 12/3 should M be in the same boat and one of those losses is to osu in c-bus.

I also don't see osu losing on the road to either Maryland or MSU but M is in the driver's seat if that does happen with M going into c-bus, losing and ending up with one loss. Head to head takes M to Indy in that scenario.

Bottom line, osu really has to win out and so does M if they want to get to Indianapolis. It's gotten harder for osu to do that based on what we've seen of them so far. We've seen a ton of weird shit happen in November so, hold on to your asses.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                        • If OSU loses before they play M, then M can lose to OSU and go to the B10 CG. Once OSU has 2 conference losses, it's over. M wins the head-to-head tiebreaker with PSU.

I think it's better for OSU if M wins out before the game. In the unlikely event that PSU runs the table, then OSU needs it to be a 3-way tie. If it's a 3-way tie then PSU presumably gets knocked out and it's between OSU/M, which, I think would go to OSU if they finish 11-1.

PSU's schedule is favorable, but their talent is not.

                          • I don't know if this is true or not -- I mean, it was on Twitter so pretty much 99.9% sure it's true -- but OSU was winning at half-time by 5, scored 9 more points in the 2nd half, held Penn State to 72 yards in the 2nd half...and lost...

                            • It was an inexplicable loss. The Bucknuts had no business losing that game, but managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Bama (save 2009) has a game like that every year and as crazy as it sounds, they play better the rest of the year after that loss. It's like so much pressure builds up and the L releases that and the team just starts playing ball again and stops walking on eggshells.

Either that, or this is UFM's devious and cowardly plan to avoid Bama - just like he did last year! That bastard....
