I'd like to thank Ohio St. And their football program for reminding America how badly they were ass-railed by the University of Florida and Tim Tebow in the national title game. LOL

Re Ewell, this is the best I have. Ohio State will probably take one more DT. They like Ewell. Ewell likes OSU -- OSU has done a really good job at Lake Taylor HS (2 kids from there already -- Wayne Davis, Jayln Holmes). Ewell and Davis are friends. OSU is definitely recruiting Ewell.

The sense I get, however, is that they really, really like Tufele and would prefer to make a run at him before committing to Ewell. They definitely have Ewell ahead of guys like Hansard who OSU (and, I think M) have both sort of dropped. I doubt they would chase Marvin Wilson over Ewell given the LOL chance OSU has with Wilson.

So, if Ewell is committing soon it may put OSU in a bind. I tend to think if the they really want him they'll get him, so he's a great "tea leaf" guy from my perspective -- if he goes elsewhere then it suggests to me they feel good about other options. It was what happened with Kellen Mond, a top 100 QB that OSU really liked but more or less "lost interest" in once it became clear Martell was in. My guess is they won't take him at this time. That's based on class projections from a couple of people and the lack of CBs on him from anyone.

I ordinarily wouldn't share that particular perspective because it is so rife with homerism, but that's my best take as of now from reading the guys I think are good.

That's right. It's a deferred entry. You're not on scholarship or the team for Fall. You begin in Winter/Spring. Most kids pay their way the first semester and some just don't enroll until second semester.

In 2018 news, Zamir White visited this week. White is the top RB in the class and from NC. He's probably Georgia and almost certainly SEC, but he's worth chasing. And UFM's track record with RBs at OSU is certainly enticing, which I find humorous in view of the Brionte Dunn recruitment discussions. Heh. Anyway, I rate OSU's chances as slightly better than LOL since he actually visited. He at least knows who they are.

Also, Darrell Simpson (OT, Texas, #59 OVR) visited this week. He really likes OSU. It's still Texas so automatically a tough pull, but OSU's chances are credible here...way above LOL.

Finally, Jackson Carman (OT, Ohio, #20 OVR) was on campus again. OSU is a lock.

So, the full spectrum of chances with some really good players. 2018 will be another really good class. I don't think they get the top 15 players like they'll get for 2017, but man, they have a realistic chance to get at least 6 kids between 15 and 50 and another 3-4 from 51-100.

These two classes could put OSU firmly in par with Alabama in terms of sheer talent. I think they're pretty close, but Bama definitely has the edge for now.

I guess OSU told Joel Honigford they won't be recruiting him going forward. He's a legit P5 player and will end up at a good program. That rather clearly suggests OSU feels really good about at least 1 really good OL -- Trey Smith?

M's staff likes Honigford a good bit, certainly more than his recruiting rankings.
